Read today that James DeGale gets £125,000 per fight, wether bull**** or not it reminds me of another olympic golden boy Audley got a £1million 10 fight deal What can a fighter expect for say a British title defence,I have no idea but a guess would be nowhere near that, maybe £50 grand?? Are olympic fighters paid a lot more in expectation or is that about right across the board for all ,its a lot of cash and a hell of a gamble after Mr A-Force Fraudley
£50k sounds more like a Euro title defence. DeGale gets paid what he does based on all the exposure he has received since winning the gold medal at the Olympics.
I know what Chris Edwards and Shinny got for their fight and it was a disgrace. PM me if interested:thumbsup
calzaghe got 50 grand for his first fight with warren. not sure wat it was for but it wasnt until a few fights later he fought eubank for the wbo. how much u reckon he got for a routine defence???
thats wat i fought in the back ofmy mind. so 20 defense's plus kessler hopkins and jones. not bad. think he's invested in property in eastern europe
The reported highest bid for a British title fight was Carl Froch vs Robin Reid for around £120,000 to £140,000 which is split between the holder and the challenger. Most boxers will get a contracted amount that they must earn per fight and that will go up depending on the magnitude of the fight (domestic, euro, main event, world title) In general, British Title fighters will make 5k-30k depending on the weight and how big the fight is. If DeGale is getting 125k per fight fair play to him, but do not be suprised if Warren drops him in the next year or so, becuase there is no way he is generating the ticket sales and tv money to justify that.
