Casimero will first make a voluntary defense against undefeated Duke Micah (24-0, 19 KOs) in Connecticut on September 26. The fight will be part of the undercard to the Showtime Pay-Per-View which features the Charlo brothers making defenses of their respective world titles. Nery will also fight on the card, when he fights Aaron Alameda for the vacant WBC super bantamweight title. Casimero (29-4, 20 KOs) was first scheduled to have a fight with Naoya Inoue of Japan, on a date in April in Las Vegas, but their fight fell apart due to the coronavirus pandemic. Casimero and Nery have exchanged heated words in the past on social media. "Nobody runs from you, you are nothing. You don’t scare anyone, you’re just a log," Nery told Casimero on social media. The tough Filipino believes some of the top names have been avoiding him - including Nery, who holds a record of 30-0 with 24 knockouts. Should Nery captured the WBC title, Casimero wants to move up in weight to face him for that title. "We used to see each other in training and we had some heated exchange in Instagram. He said I was just like a tree that he can chop down,” Casimero told Josef T. Ramos of The Manila Times. “Inoue and Nery that they are running away from me like [scared] chickens. They are all-talk. I told Inoue and Nery that they are running away from me like scared chickens. “It’s going to be a good opportunity if [Nery] wins that fight. I will move to the 122-pound [division] and he will be my next target. I will take all the belts in that division."
Would be good to see that dirty cheat Nery get ironed out. Always hoped Ouballi would be the one to do it.
He has cojones. But he also has to understand that Nery will likely weight- and drugcheat him, and gets the decision if it goes to the cards.
