I was just watching casamayor vs katsidis it was a great s****, katsidis power almost was enough to get him out of the hole.

What's the consensus on the trio of Casamayor fights against Castillo, Freitas and Corrales? Two SD losses and a narrow UD win.

You really don't hear much discussion regarding the great trio of very talented super fheathers and lightweights that fought one another in the beginning of the 2000's... The Castillo/Corrales wars seem to take up the majority of the talk :tired

Excellent fights that get overlooked. :deal

I seem to recall feeling that Casa ought to have gotten two of three (as opposed to how it stands with the inverse).

Of course, any leftover sympathies folks had for El Cepillo vanished as of the robbery of the decade candidate that was Casa vs. JASC a bit later. :verysad

What's your take on the Casa/Floyd fight that never was, IB. Do you think Floyd "fancied" that one?

...which is odd, because prior to having fought Casamayor, Santa Cruz was a COMPLETE unknown with no reason for anyone to be that emotionally invested (though it was a pretty bad decision...and I guess people do love an underdog story)

Maybe the closest there is to a fight I feel comfortable accepting PBF as having legitimately swerved.

I'd have to agree. I remember him pushing for a Kosta match in one interview.

...which of course (while Kostya was no pushover) suited him stylistically FAR more than Casa did.

He "ducked" Casa, to my reckoning, far more convincingly than he "ducked", say, Margarito or Williams.

People seem to forget how dirty Casa was. He was one of the dirtest fighters I ever saw.
