Foreman's best shots? There was only one or two clean hard punches to the jaw after that that were not partially or fully blocked and which were not jabs (unless you are one of those who are thinking Foreman's jab was so hard he could knock people out with it). Also, if you have seen more of Chuvalo fights, you must be aware that when he was hit by something big, he usually took a short pause, a second or a couple of seconds, before starting throwing punches back. In this case he didn't. Ok, I'll give you one punch he attempted, before and after that he's just covering up and not throwing anything, very unusual for him, and thus can serve as a sign that he was hurt much more than was usual for him.

Like I said, don't just take common opponents. See that both were hit by the same kind of punches and in similar circumstances and see how both reacted to that. For Chuvalo one hard clean shot was more than enough to be ready to fall (if not for the ropes). Lyle took three or four more similar clean hard punches to the jaw before he was ready to fall.

Ali hit Chuvalo with a lot of crisp and clean hard shots, over their two fights. Or maybe he hit Lyle with something better than he hit anyone else with. Who can tell ?

The problem with these types of arguments is the obvious fact that the same fighters can be different fighters on different nights. In terms of punching power and punch resistance.

After rocking Chuvalo with a left hook, Foreman immediately landed a massive left hook and an uppercut (which took out Norton) as well as punishing body blows. Chuvalo rolled partially with a following overhand right, but it still landed. Another two huge left hook got through his defense, but Chuvalo tried to counter with a right hand.

Foreman mostly missed with the following assault, until a triple jab got through, rocking Chuvalo's head back and causing him to spit blood. Foreman then landed with two big right hands, two left hooks, only for Chuvalo to attempt another right hand and left hook which missed.

Foreman then continues to miss as the worst sting seems to have been taken out of his punches, until the referee stops the bout at a point in which Chuvalo is actually not taking any punishment.

No one ever denied that Chuvalo had been hurt, but he was not as hurt as this.

I don't rate Foreman's performance against Lyle. Very poor.
And always surprising good against Chuvalo.

Anyway, something Chuvalo and Lyle both have in common is that they were both gifted challenges at champion Ali whilst coming off getting clearly outboxed by underdog opponents.

The following left hook was either to the neck or to the back of the head, what might have landed on the jaw line was Foreman's wrist area. This is based on position of Foreman's glove immediately after the punch landed, it's lying on the back of Chuvalo's head and Foreman is pressing Chuvalo's head down. Right uppercut might have landed (bad camera angle), but, as I just said, just prior to that Foreman was pressing Chuvalo's head down, so George's chin lowered and thus his neck muscles clearly reduced the impact of the punch to large degree.
Three punches to the back/kidneys, nothing much considering Chuvalo's back muscles.

    No force, grazing punch.

First blow hit Chuvalo's right glove. The punch was very powerful, but Foreman's glove didn't touch Chuvalo's jaw at all, he hit the glove that was pressed to right cheek with his wrist area, no damaging impact. Second hook again hit Chuvalo's right glove or wrist area first, and most of the power was spent at that moment, the hand being pushed to the left by impact, and Foreman's glove continuing its movement, hitting the head with little sharpness left.

Let's see............The Clay vs. Chuvalo bout did a gross of $180,000

And the Liston vs. Patterson II Bout did $4,500,000 promoted by that 'fly-by-night' promotional group I-C-P and Sports Vision.

    Sir Lord,,,,,,,,,,,,,You're a Funny Guy.

Some faceless internet troll says the Toronto bout lost money. The promoter of said bout says it broke even. I think Ill go with the promoters word.

This forum is real funny at times. There was a thread the other week where someone said that George Chuvalo won the first Ali fight, and then we have the mirror opposite claimed here.

Gotta laugh too at Georges chin bein called into question (so to speak) cos he took a few good shots (and still didnt go down) from that powderpuff puncher Georgina Foreman. I mean, hes no earnie shavers is he?
