The 22 yr old Clay that fought Liston in 1964, or the slightly heavier, 32 yr old Ali that fought Foreman in 1974.

    Who wins?

Clay was too fast for Ali, and just as tough.

Ali was a level ahead of the inexperienced Clay.....

Well, the younger Clay still would have the same sturdy chin and power while being much quicker of hand and foot and far more mobile. It all points to Clay being the fav, though with Ali's experience he could set some traps for Clay.

I actually think the fleet footed 22 yr old Clay would school the Ali that fought Foreman. Clay was to quick, movement was too good.

Hmm, the poll was at 2-0 to Ali, before I said and voted for Clay and now Clay is winning - post counts do count towards something ;)

:goodGotta agree with that, Pre-exile I would favor him over almost every HW in the history of the division, almost perfection.

It seems like Ali's chin got better though. He was almost KOed by cooper but look how much punishment he was able to take against fraizer

Would chins be the difference though? Obviously Clay could stand up to the punches of Ali and vice-versa.

That (which is pretty much irrelevant) and experience are the only things Ali has over Clay.

Ali's speed in 1974 was not so slow that Clay would make a fool of him, plus Ali's experience and ring genius was in full flight in '74

i just feel these ring smarts would get the job done over speed and youth..... plus a better chin means a Henry Cooper moment is not on the cards, whereas it is for Clay....
