Muhammad Ali I was better than Muhammad Ali II. The year Ali was forced to retire after being drafted, there wasn't a better fighting machine that ever lived on this planet. That fighter had a jab, footwork, and skills so far ahead of his time, that he was able to come back and reinvent himself after almost 4 years out of the game. That is how great Ali was before the draft.

Ali did not have one punch power like Cooper had.

The Ali from 1964-67 would beat any other version of Ali, same guy, same intelligence, same toughness, same will.... less stamina, less speed, most notably the footspeed.

That version of Ali wouldnt need no rope-a-dope.

Anyone that thinks the Foreman version beats the Liston version hasnt annalysed things properly IMHO.

The pre-exile Ali of the 60s was probably the greatest heavyweight who ever lived P4P. His chin may have improved somewhat from the 60s to the 70s but that is irrelevant in this fight as Ali does not possess KO power in either hand. What Clay does have is the hand speed and foot speed of a much lighter fighter and this would allow him to cruise to a decision win over the comparatively slower Ali. Clear points win for the Ali of the 60s.

I don't think there was any difference in the chin between Clay and Ali. He just learned to keep more aware of the punches coming his way.
Ali admitted he was looking at Liz Taylor at ringside when Cooper clocked him with that hook. It's the ones that you don't see coming that getcha.

Ali, he just had more natural talent.

Ali's experience would have been just enough to beat the young Cassius Clay, Ali by split decision.

Yes, because you just gain 'natural' talent as you get older :nut
