Maussa was a never was. Damn man. Maussa was cannon fodder for an up and coming Miguel Cotto then Vivian Harris handed him the title. You cant even say that Maussa won that title, Harris knocked himself out.
i agree with this, if hantton can land good body shots, the fight could go either way. you can't throw punches without losing some defensive capabilty, so unless pbf doesn't throw punches, hatton's got a chance of landing and he's a decent finisher. i know before you say it that pbf is very quick but it's a 12 round fight and hatton won't be trying to box from the outside. pbf is a clear favourite but if the odds are good enough i'll be putting money on hatton for a stoppage.
Since when has boxing been all about stopping the opponent? Hes won both fights, does it make it any less of a win if you dont stop them? No. Hatton will have a very hard time managing to land the body punch of Mayweather, Hatton is fairly good at cutting of the ring and if he could get Mayweather in the corner or up against the ropes maybe he could have success. But when he goes for the left hook to the body, it will leave him open for a Mayweather counter, probably a right uppercut or hook or something, which is the major problem.
It was close but Castillo was always working and not fighting in amateurish spurts. Your definition of a gift is all wrong. Hatton was coming off similarly bad performances. Typically you are talking completely in hindsight. Herman did have an SD but Bailey is a former world champ, so how is he a journeyman? Robinson lost to a true journeyman in Tiger but then was on top of the world for the next 5 or 6 years. Castillo was throwing over 50 shots a round. Castillo starts slow. Hatton himself admitted he was warming up after the third. He was still looking good in the fourth. Hatton kept on him. People jump on this shot thing way too quickly.
You pointed to the fact that he didnt stop the 2 prime fighters he had fought over the last four years, as if that means anything, he won both fights.
OK, this thread is about the body shots that Hatton landed on Castillo being able to stop anyone. Well he landed tons of similar body shots against Urango and Collazzo and did not stop them. Damn, talk about dense.
that's not true, hatton although known for his body punching hasn't been using it as much as usual against koysta and the fights since. against castillo was the first time he had been dedicatedly going to the body - and as much as people like to say so, he didn't grab much in that fight either. i hope what happened with castillo gets him back to his pre koysta style.
What a load of ****. No one of group of fighters are more or less predisposed to having strong bodies, or any attribute for that matter. There are racial stereotypes that may hold for a number of fighters but they aren't scientific fact. Look at Gonzalez - Penalosa the other week for another Mexican getting stopped by a body shot. Think before you open your mouth.
hahaha hasn't Cotto KO'd at least a PAIR of Mexican fighters with a vicious left hook to the body...Their ass went to sleep!!!!...Hatton and Cotto are the best Body Punchers in boxing today...If only Hatton and Cotto could some****ing how pull off the wins because I'd rather see Cotto vs Hatton than any other match up in boxing...That fight would sell out Yankee Stadium.
