Castillo Vs Marquez at 135 would have been a war for ages...

    FOTY clearly.

    I am torn on who I would have favored, but I think Castillo would have scrapped a close one.

    TS is right on, this would've been a hellacious war.

    The best Marquez is a clearly better fighter than Castillo, but the best Marquez was at 126-130lbs, not 135.

    Therefore, the 135lbs version of Marquez (Casamayor & Diaz 1) vs Castillo... I don't think either would be able to stop the other, so I'd back Castillo to win by hard-fought decision, MD or SD.

    Marquez would still be the better combo puncher and the better powerpuncher, but when you consider how Juan Diaz was able to rough JMM up - Castillo is bigger, stronger, smarter and technically better than Diaz, and with a much better beard.

    Castillo decision after a Fight Of The Year type war. Both would be badly marked up by the end.

    would have been a war!! Castillo at 135 was a ****in beast! Can see Marquez winning it though. Just more complete and he would use his legs to stay at mid range.

    Considering 90% of people on this forum must have seen Marquez vs Juan Diaz 1, I'm surprised at how many people are confidently backing JMM to beat the best lightweight version of Jose Luis Castillo.

    Castillo beats the 135 version of JMM by UD. JMM may have the goods but Castillo was at his very formidable at 135.

    Marquez is the greater fighter, but at 135 Castillo would beat Marquez in a close fight.

    I don't think Marquez is really better than peak Castillo. He'd lose at 135, but yes, it'd be a fun fight.
