I know this has been covered numerous times in the past but i have not really paid too much attention as the Mayweather haters raised the issue originally.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Before you reply please know:

1: Yes, i know Floyd is a great boxer, he was injured in the fight and still gave Castillo a very very tough fight.
2: Yes, i believe he would have won convincingly if he wasn't injured
3: Yes, i have seen what he did to Castillo in the rematch. So what?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am in no way a Floyd hater. If it means anything to the *****s I have him beating Manny if they were to ever fight.

However, I believe Castillo got Mayweather to fight his fight, and took advantage of it. Like Duran, did to Leonard the first time.

After reading Jas topic in regards to "how can Floyd be beaten" i went back to the Castillo fight and watched it again with on MUTE. When i had watched the fight live when i was a kid i originally thought Castillo edged ahead but meh maybe Floyd could have won it.

Once i reviewed the fight again i had Castillo in front. Especially after round 9. It was a dirty fight from both fighters. Admittedly Castillo should have had another point deducted, but that was not the case. But you could also say that about Floyd hitting after the break, considering Castillo had a point deducted for the same thing.

As im sure all are aware, punch stats were in Castillo's favour because of Floyds injuries. Regardless of that fact, Floyd is a fighter, the injury does not allow him a handicap.

    Final Punch Stats

    Castillo
    Thrown: 506
    Landed: 203
    % : 40%

    Mayweather
    Thrown: 506
    Landed: 203
    % : 40%

    Power Punch Stats

    Castillo
    Thrown: 377
    Landed: 173
    % : 46%

    Mayweather
    Thrown: 151
    Landed: 66
    % : 44%

    Jab Stats

    Castillo
    Thrown: 129
    Landed: 30
    % : 23%

    Mayweather
    Thrown: 297
    Landed: 91
    % : 31%

Now, Roger Mayweather even told Floyd he had to make the fight "close", when he was in the corner. He went on to tell him to Stand, Punch and get out in the last 2 rounds, in other words get in score and get out. Prior to round 8/9 Roger was not in this mindset. He knew it was close, if not on Castillo's side.

Castillo was the aggressor throughout the fight. He threw more power shots/landed more. He threw more shots in general/landed more. He had a 10/8 round when things were very tight in the closing rounds of the fight.

I know others believe the punch stats were different because Castillo was hitting elbows and arms, not clean effective punches. This is true to an extent, but not enough to justify the W on Floyds record. IMO.

At worst if you were to lean Floyds way it could have been called a draw.

    What do you think?

How did you score the Castillo VS Floyd 1 fight?

I dont understand why people talk about this fight if Floyd had injuries then beat him in a rematch then you know why Castillo could've won the first

Nothing to discuss, if there was no rematch then there would be reasons

It's about what the judges scored who were sitting at ringside scoring the fight LIVE. No countless replays, no slow motion, no et cetera et cetera.

    Opinions are like "ssholes, ..

It was close. I had it for Mayweather.

I find the power punch stats sort of difficult to believe too. Castillo, whilst landing more shots than most of Floyd's other opponents, didn't land that many clean shots.

    :lol::patsch

Just because there's a rematch does not mean the first fight is irrelevant.

Guess Fraziers win over Ali shouldn't be spoken of, eh? :patsch

Compubox is blah. Always should be taken with a grain of salt. I don't take it seriously.

Castillo did too little in the early rounds for me to score it for him.

I kind of wish Floyd had lost though. Maybe he wouldn't be such a cherry-picker to protect his undefeated record.

Floyd won. But definitely not by the margin the judges had. I had him by 2 rounds, and then he cleared the air in the rematch.

Yup! I think floyd getting the decision was the worst thing that happen to him and the sport of boxing. If he loses to castillo id bet we see floyd fight manny, paul, kostya, margo, prime cotto and sergio. And id bet floyd wins most of those fights and would be an even bigger star than he is right now. but he got the decision and the rest is history. we didnt get those great fights but we did get to see classic fights against hatton, ortiz, guererro and grandpa moseley.:rofl
