If this fight gets cancelled, boxing will have yet another black eye.

Gary Shaw deserves to be punched in his ****ing mouth. He's manipulating a deceased man's case to fill his own pockets. And also, you know that scumbag isn't gonna throw a penny of that money to Corrales' family. And either way, this case is absolute bull****. " Oh, I'm gonna sue him because he couldn't make weight, and I'm doing it for the memory of Corrales ". ****ing pieces of ****.

This is a very big event with lots of Cash on the line. Hatton's people will be enraged, and think of all the thousands of fans that will get refunds (and people coming from UK and Mexico).

Gary Shaw will never be forgiven.

Over the past few years he has Lost Winky, Manny Pac, Shane Mosley, Jeff Lacy, and Chico tried to defect before he died. Jin Mosley has accused him of screwing Chico's family over ROYALLY, which might be why Chico was in such dire need of cash when he died.

Right now, the focus shouldn't be on whether the case is wrong or right. It should be on the fact that Gary Shaw is a fat**** *******. He could have pulled this after the fight happened, not before. He's not only screwing over Castillo here. He's screwing over everyone. All of the people attending the fight, all of the people paying to watch it on TV, the fighters and their camps, etc. He's even making the Corrales family look bad. There is absolutely no reason why he had to pull this **** right before Castillo's big fight and couldn't wait until after it happened.

This is stupid. First of all, I love Chico, and wish his family the best, but the man had plenty of money. It is rather ******ed to be taking Castillo's purse for this fight, especially given the fact that Corrales turned around himself and was unable to make weight.

That's the the thing, Chico's family did not have plenty of money. One of the reasons is that Shaw was apparently screwing him out of quite a bit of it.

I don't buy it. Their idea of plenty of money and ours is quite different. Along with all of the donation funds that have been set up in his name, this is *******izing the entire situation. Chico couldn't make weight on the scales as well before, should Casamayor now sue Chico's family for damages?

If Gary Shaw is so worried about Chico's family, he has enough money to take care of them himself. I guess what is pissing me off the most is that they are putting a negative light around his death. Chico was great for us fans, and we all appreciate what he did for us in the ring. He lived wrecklessly which is the same characteristic that made him such a great crowd pleaser in the ring. He got entirely too drunk and killed himself on his motorcycle. I can look past the mistake, and still show him love and respect for what he did in the ring. Now, all of this is putting a big negative spotlight around his death, and making it look like people are just trying to get paid.

But when Chico failed to make weight, it wasn't in the contract that the fight would be cancelled. The fight still went on and everybody got paid, just like the second Corrales-Castillo fight. Nobody lost money because Chico showed up overweight, just like nobody lost money when Castillo showed up overweight in the Chico rematch

The third Corrales-Castillo fight was cancelled because the contract stipulated that Castillo had to make weight or the fight was off. He didn't, and as a result the fight was cancelled. Millions were lost for Diego Corrales, the promoters and the venue that was hosting the fight, not to mention Castillo himself. A lot of people got screwed by him not making weight for the third fight

There is no comparison here with the Corrales-Casamayor situation. In the Casamayor fight, Casamayor accepted a "cash settlement" from Chico's purse, and the fight went forward. In the case of Corrales-Castillo 3, there was no "settlement" and the fight did not happen. Alot of money was lost by everyone involved. I guess there wasn't enough money in the Castillo-Ngoudjo fight, or they would have attached to that fight when it happened.

What could have happened here if this was forseeable, is that Arum could have done a bout agreement with Castillo for like 10 grand, and then did a provision of services agreement with HBO for the rest, and held it in trust for Castillo and paid it out later as a "performance bonus" or something. Nobody could have touched it.
What will probably end up happening here is that Arum will front Castillo his expected purse on a promissory note so that Jose is not focused on this money thing, and Arum will get it back later after the court case, or Castillo's next fight or whatever.....
