They lost money because they decided not to go forth with the fight. Casamayor could have refused to fight an overweight Corrales as well, causing money to be lost. That is part of the game. Sometimes, you are going to take a loss. This isn't the first person to go through a training camp only for the fight to fall through for one reason or another. Castillo could have pulled out of the fight 1 day before the weigh ins for an injured rib and saved himself the money. What would have been the difference? If they were so sure that Castillo wasn't going to make weight again, then they shouldn't have agreed to a 3rd fight. Also if they were so appauled to fighters not being able to make weight that they cancel fights and sue the fighters, then maybe they should have been professional enough not to turn around and do the same thing directly afterwards to their opponent?
Oh really? Here's you're fanboy rant "sweetie": Originally Posted by compukiller If Castillo was fighting one of Shaw's other fighters, I GUARANTEE you he would not do this. Castillo has no ruling against him in the suit, so them doing this is total ****ing bull****. -------- And you had some point right? Sorry, he's NOT fighting another Shaw fighter. Sure it's ****ed up, but it's NOT Shaws fault Castillo couldn't make the ****in weight. Promoters may **** boxers out of money, but it's usually becuase the boxers do not understand what they are signing. If Shaw did something illegal, that's one thing. I say, "Don't ****in sign something you don't understand". Ever heard of common sense?:deal
What you fail to see is that Shaw is politically ****ing himself over by doing this. He is surely angering HBO (not a good idea to anger them as they are the biggest network for boxing) and also dragging the name of his recently deceased fighter through the mud. He should wait until after the fight at the very least. He could still get his money. And also, Gary Shaw has been accused of dirty dealing by more than one person. This is yet another example of a man that is part of a cancer on this sport. Gary Shaw says he is doing it for Chico's family, but that is bull****. And you want to call me a fanboy? I bet you if this was your hero Margo in JLC's position, you would start a ****ing riot. :deal
Well, you're sporting a Castillo avatar and taking this personal. If you aren't a fanboy, then don't act like one. :deal And if it was Margarito, I'd say the same thing. If you sign a contract, better make sure you abide by it. I don't let my feeling make my decisions. Lucky for me, Margarito stays in shape year round and is a consumate professional. I do agree this is awful ****ed up of Shaw. Especially the timing. And if it hurts him, then he shoulda known better. Anyway, Castillo STILL can get his money. And I doubt Castillo is in the poor house.
You surely must admit that there is a bias against JLC in the boxing media. He has always been underrated, even with several quality wins on his record, and has been the most maligned fighter to not make weight in recent history.
**** shaw, just by the way he looks you can tell he's a greedy *****...he never even paid castillo the one hundred thousand dollars for knocking out chico.............i swear, i dont wish bad for anybody but this is one ****en pig i wouldn't mind seeing get stomped to death by all the boxers he's burned.....****en fat pig is now entering mma cause he knows his respect in the boxing game is soon to hit rockbottom...
I also find it funny how people here rag on Castillo for not making weight, yet Zab Judah gets elevated to sainthood for not only getting brutally stopped by Cotto, but for also not winning a professional fight in YEARS!!! Castillo could KO Cotto in 1 rd, and he would still be regarded as a villainous scourge.
If there is a bias, and I'm not saying there isn't, I really haven't seen it. To me, he just isn't a big name. Je's tough as **** and consistent, but hasn't really gained a huge following in the states. The whole weight thing really bothered people, and rightfully so. He ****ed Corrales in the rematch (Corrales being the warrior is the only reason that fight went on), then fans in the third. :deal
Reyes was at a 138 catchweight, which Castillo made. It was twice. 2 times too many, but it was twice.
