I guess there is the possibilty of this being a motivator for JLC. If he knew he owed all this money, he probably knew it was coming. So maybe he will go in like a damned demon posessed to take Hatton's belt insuring him another large payday soon. This Sucks!!

If I was Casamayor, I'd sue the Corrales estate for coming to their fight overweight.

It is only withheld pending something or the other, he hasn't definitely lost it for good, if I read it right. Source is fightnews.

That makes NO sense. So he cancels the fight, still owes Shaw money from the Corrales fight, and then ALSO owes Hatton's people money for cancelling this fight? That would be just plain ******ed.

Whether he makes money this fight shouldn't have any bearing on his motivation, rationally. If he wins, then he can make other big fights and make lots of money on those. If he loses, then he can't. Simple as that. It's not like his purse would have been bigger for winning anyway.

As an attorney, this sounds right to me. If the case hasn't gone to trial yet, they probably have attached his purse and are putting it in escrow. That would mean that Castillo can't get the money immediately, but if the damages to Shaw in the case are less than $1.2M, or if he wins, then he would get that part of the money at that time.

Freddy - Location under your avatar fit JLC perfectly right about now.
I'm still pickin Castillo to win, as this may actually work out as a motivator.

Everyone seemed to hate Castillo for the cancelled rubber match, not necessarily because he was unprofessional, but because they didn't get to see a fight.

I personally was more bothered by the fact that he and his doctor deliberately tried to rig the scales for the 2nd fight. That is what he really should have been suspended for, that's worse than what he did for the 3rd fight.

I used to hate Castillo, but I'm more or less forgiven him and am indifferent about him now.

Castillo will make more than enough money to pay all of his bills in his NEXT fight if he beats Hatton. If anything he'll fight harder. No way he doesn't fight.

ALL FEELINGS ASIDE?? There still has to be an EQUITABLE payment schedule, once judgement is rendered. JLC was wrong before but his family has needs as well. Can you imagine the "world' where all legal penalties/fines are required up front ??? Guess everyone should start their own "crimial" escrow account, just in case???:-( :-( :-( Sounds like a great new "Insurance" product"

To withhold this mans ENTIRE PURSE, is completely unfair and unrealistic. NO MAN should risk his life for NOTHING in the SPORT of Boxing.

I wonder if this demotivates Castillo even a little bit that might give the edge to Hatton.Hmmmmmm
