Casual fans will go back to UFC after last night.

We were told once DLH quit boxing had no stars. New stars will be found.

I remember Dana White shitting on the PBF v DLH fight saying how Floyd is bad for boxing etc etc. Yet since then FloyD mayweather keeps getting 1 mil + PPV buys so exactly how is mayweather bad for boxing?

White even tried to run a UFC ppv against Mayweather v JMM and got his ass kicked. When one UFC fighter can draw the money mayweather dies then Dana White can talk **** but until then he needs to shut the **** up.

I'm getting bored of the amount of times I hear people say 'boxing is dead'.



Also for all this talk of MMA being the #1 global combat sports I can say over here in Europe MMA isnt that popular at all. I love MMA but here in the UK its not as if its some big thing taking over.

 

So we're ignoring the fact that Brock Lesnar outdrew Mayweather in both 2009 and 2010?

And new stars weren't found to replace ODH...De La Hoya was jobbed out to Mayweather and Pacquiao. Boxing hasn't created a single megastar in this millennium who wasn't made a ppv draw by defeating ODH. What happens if Mayweather and Pacquiao retire without losing to one of the new generation?

And White didn't try to run a ppv to defeat Mayweather - Mayweather vs. Marquez got moved to a date the UFC had already booked when Mayweather postponed his return due to injury. And its laughable to compare the UFC event with the Mayweather given the gulf in the relative importance of the two shows.

 

Boxing is much better than two men rolling around the floor with glass jaws.

 

My work are loving the controversy. Controversy sells. Floyd is the pantomine villian and whether you love or hate, you will watch.

The fight was good, the ending was greating, the afterfight was sensational!

 

It's not like UFC Fight Night was any better.....

 

The problem isn't the Floyd-Ortiz card but the fact that you're disgruntled because Floyd-Pac isn't likely to happen or at least that's what I gather. If that's the case I can understand the frustration but you're wrong if you think Floyd-Ortiz didn't do anything good for the sport of boxing. I'm an MMA fan and I didn't even know Shields and Ellenberger had fought until today. Neither did my friends. People are still buzzing about the Floyd-Ortiz drama and I'm not hearing much hype for the Jones-Rampage bout (although I'm looking forward to that).

Projection for the Floyd-Ortiz PPV revenue is over 1 million dollars. Any time a fight hits that mark it's a success. People will always be interested in what Floyd does next because he's full of drama and people can't get enough of that. It was a good fight while it lasted. Neither Floyd nor Vic ran. Both were willing to trade shots unlike Pac-Mosley.

It was a good night of fights for me along with the folks around me. We learned that Vargas isn't ready for the big show. Morales entertained yet again. And Canelo continues to gain a larger fanbase with a KO win. Shame that you didn't enjoy it. But don't drag others into the mud with you.

There should be no controversy at all. Floyd scored a legal KO. It's only a problem if you create one inside your head.

Yeah right. Mayweather and Ortiz's next fights will attract even more people to watch cuz of the way this one ended. As if Floyd wasn't raking in enough cash lol. The only people that think this was bad for boxing are the one's who don't understand "If it don't make dollas, it don't make sense".

 

i think some fans may support the upcoming tar such as saul canelo alvarez, amir khan, bradon rios, devon alexander, and abner mares however besides those names i dont know how much longer boxing can compete with the monopoly which is that of the UFC.

 

I think in England in some ways its getting smaller. Lots of people i know have stopped watching over the last year or two. Its a more established brand i think but since it went off setanta i think less people are watching. Would like to see some numbers just my personal experience.

For me it is crazy how this keeps coming back up. I see them as both completely separate sports, like rugby and football for example.

I love both sports but this whole MMA Vs boxing nonsense is getting old.
