Casuals - Froch/Groves PPV

Seriously? PPV worthy? :blood

Not many fights are worth PPV, and it certainly isn't "good for us fans" if mediocre defences like this are called PPV worthy. And certainly not for the popularity for boxing as a whole.

 

PPV should be about quality of fights not quantity the Froch fight is nowhere near PPV worthy.

 

I know boxing fans who are not buying this became they can get a whole month of boxing with boxnation for a tenner why pay 15quid for one show...

Fair point I think esp considering the main event on this occasion is weak as ****.

 

Are casual fans really buying into this, frankly crap, PPV?


I don't think the ppv numbers are going to be great for this one.


In his book "Manufacturing Consent" Noam Chomsky argues that the most knowledgeable upper echelon of society lead public opinion. Well when it comes to boxing we are the most knowledgeable group in society. If a mate who is a casual fan asks you should he buy this PPV what are going to tell him? I know I'll be telling him to keep his money.

I can't see this fight generating anywhere near the hype of the Kessler fight.

 

The point is all of us who buy ppv,and I will and do it regularly,are complete idiots led by greedy bas.....s by the nose cos we are in effect paying for the same thing twice !!!atsch

 

Everybody knows to stick a HDMI cable from laptop to television so this PPV will be a total flop.

Don't know anyone who thinks this is worthy of PPV and this is going to seriously damage the Sky brand together with obliterating the goodwill and loyalty of Sky customers.

BT rubbing their hands as they know Sky customers are ready to jump ship to BT at the earliest opportunity after years of Sky abusing the monopoly position to empty customers pockets.

These greedy fookers earn far too much without PPV.

I'm buying it - its not the best card in the world and I think Froch might do George in two or 3 rounds now but who cares...it's only £15 quid FFS

 

Bad news. You want fans that ensure the sport is going strong week after week, not fans that may tune in once or twice a year to line Skys pockets.

 

I'd be suprised if this does more then 200k buys non of my casual boxing mates are really talking about it, but where all buzzing for Haye vs Fury, i think this might fail in terms of buys, Froch isn't as big of star as Eddie thinks, Khan and Haye would sell way more

 

My mate's missus works for Sky and they've all been given the PPV for free. She's just started working there, so don't know if this always happens, but they're saying as a special 'promotion' they're giving away actual tickets to the fight AND free PPV to anyone that doesn't get tix. I have no idea, but will these giveaways be regular, or will they count towards 'buys' that Sky use to boost their numbers?

 

Casuals don't BUY the PPV ! They do what I'm going to do and that's go up the pub and watch it for FREE and make a night of it !
