Now before you answer this thread, Answer this question because their has been a lot of debate on what a Catchweight is... Because its not in the dictionary.

    1. If fighter (Joe Shmoe) campaigns at 154lbs and wants to fight fighter (Epo Ped), and Epo Ped campaigns at 135lbs and they say well lets fight at 147lbs because thats fair.

Is that in fact a catchweight fight?

And if not would it be if they had it at 146 or 148?

I always thought the definition of a Catchweight fight was when two fighters from two different weight classes fought at a weight some where in between the weights they were already fighting at.

Case in Point i am still yet to hear anyone call Pavlick vs Taylor 2 a catchweight fight and they faught at 164lbs and thats not a weight class.
But when the DLH vs Pac fight was being promoted they called it a Catchweight fight at the welterweight limit of 147lbs. If i need to provide the link i will. I just think the translation got lost somewhere, But correct me if im wrong.......

Ask Pernell Whitaker and Julio Cesar Chavez, the inventors of the 145 pound catchweight division.

When you want to fight someone at a certain division you go and adjust to be able to meet him. It goes both ways, either you go down or you go up. What happened was both agreed that they can fight within the welterweight limit. The fight was held at welterweight limits which was not a catchweight.

I always thought that a catchweight was any agreed-upon weight that was not a weight class, so Pac/DLH was definitely NOT a catchweight fight because it was at 147, Pavlik-Taylor 2 was.

Pac-DLH was definitely a catchweight fight.

A catchweight bout is a fight held in between the customary fighting weight of the two participants.

Joe Schmoe was actually campagning at 150lbs. Either that or PedEPO was campaigning at 130lbs. You can't have it both ways, HaterFag
