Catch weights are a blessing to boxing here is why

    They make fights that would seem impossible possible its really funny people keep moaning about them.:yep

    Yes if the fighter would be drained that's a difference case but who says that if a fighter comes down a couple of pounds that they are automatically drained?

    You have to account for many things like what did the fighter weigh in at his last fight?

    Has the been at that weight class before?


    I really feel its the fickle boxing fans who don't understand this.

    I generally don't like catchweights. I only tolerate it when the guy coming down isn't much of a weight drainer.

    I don't like them, but accept them as part of the biz. Title fighta should never be cw fights though.

    Right, because if I was a 154 lbs fighter 7 years ago and have been fighting at 160 or 168, I can EASILY go back down, right?

    Don't like them, the alternative is to have a guy fight a soft touch or two so he's used to the weight difference and can appreciate how it affects him but then you lose time for the fight you're going up or down for and the boxing climate can change very quickly.

    Because there's already plenty of official catchweights(17 divisions ffs).

    If a 'great' fighter really believes in himself why put a roadblock over a couple of lbs.

    the point with floyd was that he was a ****in' hypocrite.

    he went around criticizing cw, even went as far as saying cotto didn't lose to pacquiao because they fought at cw.

    ...and then he offered and fought canelo at catchweight??? :verysad

    cw fight are ok...i just get annoyed with floyd and *****s being hypocrites.

    with viloria, he's been hunting for a gonzales fight for years now. gonzalez was supposed to fight viloria after he beat marquez but seems like chocolatte got cold feet.

    I dont like cw, but for me it's fine as long as there is no belt involved. IF there is a belt involved, there should be NO cw allowed, to anyone.
