What's the purpose of a cw?

It shouldnt be for titles if one or the other cannot fight at the limit for the weight.

Imagine two really good fighters at different weights, one in the other's weight would not be fair, but both of them in the middle would make a wonderful fight. Just for the fans and the money, and to know who's the best.

NEVER for tittle fight. That's a shame.

This is about Rigo asking for a catchweight vs Loma, ain't it?

Except for the rare exception that proves the rule, as a rule catchweights are terrible.

Half the divisions are really catchweight divisions. Anything with a "super" or "Jr" in the name is just a catchweight division. No reason not to use one of those if two fighters need to meet in the middle somewhere.

When it was 13lbs between WW and MW, and 15lbs between MW and LHW then catchweights made sense. The way they are mostly used now, to make one guy drain for a fight in his own division is just nonsense.

I do agree when you have a situation like rigo-loma, meeting in the middle is fair to me. It's when youv got guys who just manipulate the situation because there the A side etc... broner fought at 147 twice already but makes shawn go to 44.. stupid. Pac fought oscar at 147 but made cotto come to 145... why? Those are the silly examples. I'd imagine they had more value back in the day when you had less weight classes.

Ok so since You don't like catchweights then why are you calling for Mayweather to fight Golovkin?

...because pac weighed in, even with a full breakfast at 138 in a fight just before he fought cotto.

it doesn't have to be catchweight, golovkin did say way back that he would go down to 154 and fight floyd.

Oh Ok so as long as its not 155 or 153 then it's completely cool with you, no catchweight hunh? Let me explain something to you, if a welterweight and middleweight opt to meet at 154 then it's a catchweight period!

if a fight is agreed to at a certain division's weight limit, then it's not a catchweight.

Right cause at 153 or 155 Floyd don't get credit, cause then it's a catchweight and don't count. After all G is way more healthy at 154 than 155

All weights are at a certain weight divisions limits....welter is anything between
    147 - 153, junior middle is anything between 154 - 159.
