Boxing has enough weight divisions and a loss or win for either fighter will always create drama and excuses. Just make the weight and fight and if you feel like you are in disadvantage stay in your weight class.

If both fighters agree for a normal fight it okay, but not for a title fight.

Looking at the poll out of the 78 that have voted, 59 are against catchweights for Title fights (combining the NO and the No only for Title fights).

Leaving only 19 of the voters ok with Catchweight Title fights.

I don't mind it even in a title fight as long as it's not a vacant title.

    Why does that matter?

If anything, a legit title should be more scrutinized for a catchweight then for a vacant one. At least if it's vacant, there isn't one party forcing a champ to weigh less then what he is allowed.

Like DLH vs. Hopkins for example.

As long as no championships are on the line. I don't see the probblem with them.
If there is a championship on the line like Pacquiao/Cotto, Pacquiao/Margarito and Chavez/Whitaker. Than yes I have an issue with that.

If both agree and it's not detrimental to either fighter, I don't see the problem.

if it gets the fight that we wants to see as long as both fighters and camps agree, then why not? the thing is, title means **** now a days. its who you beat that matters more.

That's so true. Posters cry about all these titles an ****, yet they make a huge fuss over them at the same time.

If Pac wins, this title means about as much as his 135 belt. Nothing.

If you are the SMALLER man asking the bigger fighter to go down 1 or 2 pounds below HIS BEST WEIGHT in order to at least level the playing field or make the fight possible, then it is alright.

Boxers are brave but they are not stupid. Only in ESB would it allow a wleterweight fighter who can not even reach the welterweight limit to fight a middleweight just for bravado. Even SRL had to pick Lalonde, of all people to fight, for an obvious reason.

However, if you are the BIGGER MAN and ask the SMALLER MAN to come up to fight you at a weight he has never fought, that is utter bollocks, disgraceful, bull**** and garbage rolled into one, like the Mayweather vs. JMM fight.

Basically, it depends on who is asking those conditions :

I don't really mind catchweights to be honest. If both sides agree then it's on them. At the same time, if you want to challenge yourself at the next weight class, then go up all the way or not at all. Especially considering there are so many weight classes already.

When Roy Jones Jr fought for the Heavyweight title was he under the weight ? Did he ask Ruiz to come in lighter ?
