Catch weight #1: Danny Garcia vs. Lamont Peterson will be at a 143lb catch weight. Thats two straight non-title fights for Garcia, who holds the WBC and WBA 140lb belts. Peterson is the IBF 140lb champion. Rather than unify, this scenario preserves the world titles of both champions. Catch weight #2: Canelo Alvarez and James Kirkland will fight at a catch weight of 155 lbs in May. Thats four straight catch weight fights for Canelo. Previously the catch weight for Canelo-Lara was 155, Canelo-Angulo was 155, and Canelo-Mayweather was 152. Am I missing a trick! What's your opinions, bet it's the same bull**** I'm thinking.
These catchweights suck, but look at the bright side; nobody is being drained or negatively affected by these weights. Canelo is the new catchweight king, Pacquiao is 2nd place. Danny Garcia at this pace is working his way up.
When Pacquiao fights at a catchweight, it's an uproar. If it's Floyd or a GBP/Haymon fighter, it's totes cool, man!
Pacquiao-Cotto took place at 145 and Cotto looked strong and healthy at the weigh in. Pacquiao-Marquez III took place at 144 (at JMM's request). Pacquiao-Margarito took place at 150 (Margarito held a 17 pound weight advantage); tested out a higher weight class and never fought above 147 again and is thinking of going to 140. Pacquiao-Algieri took place at 144, where Algieri never fought, and STILL missed weight and came in 7 pounds bigger than Pac. Floyd-Marquez was the most disgraceful catchweight of all time. Floyd-Canelo had Canelo sitting his drained ass down immediately after the scale. Floyd's the Catchweight King because he's benefitted tremendously both times. :hi:
Yeah. You can firmly put the blame for this catchweight bull**** on the hands of Manny Pacquiao and his team "If he poses any significant risk..... we drain em" Team Pacquiao
