I know they're used occasionally and have been for a long time, but should they be allowed?

I say no. The weight classes were created for a reason. Keep them that way or change them permanately. It's like in baseball allowing two national league teams to use the designated hitter every now and then.

If I'm 150 lbs we fight at 168, I'm still kickin your ass. So all this 143, 151, and all these catchweights needs to stop.

yeah, its a pretty bodge way of people draining the strength out of bigger fighters. If you want to fight someone for the 160 lbs belt then that should be the weight limit. Almost every fighter will cut some weight to fight in a lighter division, I think this in itself is a form of bending the rules so far that it could be considered cheating. When you weigh 15 or 20 lbs more on fight night than the actual weight division that you are competing in, that **** aint right. I believe that you should be weighed on the morning of the fight, that way you will fight closer to your natural weight, if you drain the **** out of yourself to get to a weight and you only have a few hours to rehydrate you wont be performing well and you wont win to many fights. Not to mention total fluid dehydration is dangerous as hell and if the commissions really cared about the boxers they would not let it happen, but as they prove time and time again with catch weights and mismatches they care only about the money and not the fighters well being.

well thats my rant for the day

Champions fight within weight divisions. The boxing Business lives for catchweights. Catchweights should be banned, burned and cast out to sea. They SUCK.
