I'm so glad to have been a generation late for Cossell. He seems worse than any personality in the industry today, yet somehow is regarded as an ATG sportscaster. :blood
i have seen and heard enough of him on fight tapes and dvd's to form this opinion he comes across as a man filled with self importance and completely untrustworthy

yes he was. I have utmost respect for Duodenum but Howard was always bitching unless it was his man Leonard scoring the blowout. I didnt see him complaining when Leonard blew out that bum Price even tho Howard did everything he could to hype him up as a serious threat to leonard. If Howard was really so concerened about blowouts and since he was confident that Leonard could beat Hagler then he should have made public and pushed for a Leonard hagler fight so that Leoanrd could take down the big bully. But all that Howard and the rest of the media did was complain about Hagler's competition instead of trying to get their man in there with Hagler.
Arthur Mercante would talk about how Howard would pick his brains about fighters and then pass the knowledge off as his own over the airewaves right in front of Arthur. That's the kind of audacity he showed.
Cossell was an absolute piece of **** at times, the woe is me, lips attached to Ali's ass, collecting massive amounts of money while shitting on his own sport approach wears on me even though I'm decades past him even being involved in the sport.
He used to hype Page up until he lost to Trevor Berbick.If you notice his interview with Greg after the Tillis fight, he kind of blows him off near the end.Caveman was a good fighter, though probably had no business in their with Hagler.
