I think that's pretty good for a brand new subscription channel at 2am.

Setanta need to bring over the Sky sports boxing team (Piper, McGuigan, Watt, Ian Darke and Glenn McCrory) and then I'd be happy. Darke and McCrory are the best in the boxing commentary business along with Jim Lampley and Colonel Bob Sheridan; fights lack something without them at the helm.

300, 000 at 10 pounds a month - that's 3 million a month. Hope that's enough to pay for all these fights they've been putting on.

Interesting stats as an American poster was saying on a thread on the main forum earlier that Hopkins can sell 300,000 PPV but Calzaghe couldn't. I can't be bothered finding the quote.

That isn't 300,000 PPVs though, its 300,000 subscribers who watched. A lot would have signed up just for the fight (I did the same to get Hatton-Castillo) but certainly nowhere near all of them.

"Trevor East, of Setanta Sports, revealed that there were over 300,000 new subscriptions on Saturday night for the fight"

It's PPV without the name. As a one month only contract, you have to assume that people will buy it every now and again when there's decent stuff on.

Bloody good figures for a fight that was on after midnight.

I dunno thats a big stretch..Cotto-Mosely, the SPL, Rangers, Celtic, Liverpool, the racing, golf channels might all have been a factor in people decsions to subscribe even on fight night.

Its a one month contract but Setanta know a lot of people won't bother to cancel. I ordered it for one month for the Hatton fight but I don't bother cancelling it if theres no big fights on for a particular month because I watch LFCTV at lot.

I presume that was on regular TV, and not cable TV...

1 mil watched Calzaghe-Lacy on terrestrial TV.

Probably true... but we're not stupid enough to put boxing fights at 2am. ;)

But seriously, I beleive the fight was on tv around 11pm or something like that.

It was indead on regular tv but it was still very good because of two reasons.

1- Population of Quebec is only 7 millions.
2- A very small portion of the population watches tv on a friday night. If I'm not mistaken the 1.2 million they got represented 60% share of the market.
