Here is an interview where Calzaghe said Jones would be a bit of a let down because he used to be great, but he is not a great fighter now. In this interview Calzaghe said his #1 choice for his final fight would be Kelly Pavlik.

    offers a bit of hope.

jones is notoriously tough to negotiate with.

but he's also willing to come to cardiff.

warren will be happy with that cos it means more money for him.

i see the jones match happening.

Joe is correct -- RJJ isn't jack now, and the matchup shouldn't be much more than a paid sparring session for Joe. RJJ is no Bernard Hopkins, that is for sure. When he lost even a split second off of his amazing reflexes, RJJ's abysmal lack of skills and glass jaw became painfully evident, as Tarver and Johnson both demonstrated in easily KO'ing Jones.

I hope Calz does take on Pavlik after he dismisses Jones. That would be a fitting end to Calz's Hall of Fame career.

No Floyd Mayweather, Joe. He has taken on virtually everyone and isn't looking for easy exits (like avoiding Margarito) as he gets ready to hang the gloves up.

Remember when people were talking about how Lacy would be starching Joe? I still remember the bitching that went on here on ESB when Lacy got blown out. Too many articles on the fight, the haters said. Of course, had Lacy won, there could never have been enough articles, right?

Ha ha ha! Joe will be missed when he does finally call it quits. He is a legend and a true warrior.

Go to the 6:33 mark if you want to go directly to the main bit.

Roy Jones Would Still Be A Notable Scalp For Calzaghe, However He Would Get More Credit For Beating A Young Prime Dangerous Pavlik!!!!

Yep -- so far I don't think people posting on this thread get the point.

Edit: Looks like a couple people get it.

he speaks the truth, i for one would not give him any credit if he ever wins against jones, let alone fight him. He'd have my respect if he does choose pavlik:good

There was one other relevant fight. This interview happened BEFORE Pavlik/Taylor II. Hopkins lost to JT twice. Pavlik beat JT in a very competetive fight, but a clear UD for Kelly.

Why doesnt this mother****er fight Dawson then. It cant be all dollars and sense and there are plenty who would pay PPV dollars for it just how greedy are we Pavlik and Dawson should line those Pockets. Anything less is a duck.

Glad he admitted it there, no one should give him any credit if he wins this. The only reason this fight is happening now because they made sure Jones is 10% if not 2% of what he once was, where were they when Jones was in his prime?, and don't give me this Arum bull****, he could've mentioned it over and over if he wanted bad enough but he actually wanted Jones to fly to Wales with all his belts to challenge him for his WBOgus. Bull**** fight, he could easily take any other fight, Jones is 40 ****ing years old and NOTHING like he once was, Pavlik made it clear he's ready, Dawson is sure as hell ready, Tarver is there too(and at the age Calzaghe is looking for, fresh and past his best).

Jones is 2.5 years older than Joe so lets not act like thier is a massive difference.

Great to see Calzaghe getting large now that Jones is way past his best. Big round of applause for Super Joe.

Jones has been shot for years and is NOTHING like he was once, not even close so please don't compare both. Calzaghe still has a lot left in him but isn't shot to pieces as Jones.
