Just a prolonged brawl in the pocket, both slinging hard body shots for long periods... then stepping apart to catch their breath, feint, and pose, bobbing in their defensive stances and watching each other, gauging movements until either of them sucks in a deep breath and takes initiative with a strong jab on the slide-in, and they start all over again. Hatanaka perhaps breathing a bit ragged now? My imagination? No, he is..

    10-9 Biendima, close

    58-56 Hatanaka

    Round 7

Biendima is looping rights, aiming for the corner of Hatanaka's cut left upper eyelid. Hatanaka is jabbing and circling with a bit more velocity than Biendima can match. Hatanaka seems to remember to box every once in a while, after slugging on even or better terms with Biendima until the cut gets aggravated with a punch and he winces and relents ground. Hatanaka doing just enough, as Biendima is throwing hard but falling just short in the quality department and not landing cleanly.

    Round 8

Biendima is lunging in and grazing with lead rights and getting checked and held in place by the Hatanaka jab and 1-2. Hatanaka seems to have fully reverted to boxing mode now, and is moving deftly on the outside with a responsible guard bunched around his chin. Wild lead rights up from the hip of Biendima, tagging Hatanaka on the hairline, but no more than one and done for Biendima, with Hatanaka circling, blocking, turning his neck, and firing timely counters to dissuade prolonged flurries.

    Round 9

Biendima is looping rights from afar, solo blasts, reaching for the head of Hatanaka. Single crisp jabs by Hatanaka while circling. Hatanaka down, slip. Biendima steps in like a boss and opens up with another of those nutty combos, uppercutting severally. Hatanaka gets the hell outta Dodge and tries establishing the jab while drifting clockwise. Biendima keeps applying his awkward pressure, herky-jerky, slow-and-steady, and picking off Hatanaka's jabs on the knife-edge of his gloves until he can take a swipe at Hatanaka with either the overhand right or left hook. The nose of Hatanaka is leaking freely again. Biendima harassing all the way until the bell.

    10-9 Biendima

    87-84 Hatanaka

    Round 10

Biendima is committed to raking up top with those overhand rights, while Hatanaka stays in his own comfort zone with the reach-in jab on a front knee lunge before snatching himself away from harm's path. BIG right from Biendima, caught Hatanaka circling lazily with his guard down. Now a hard 1-2 from Hatanaka, stopping Biendima in his tracks momentarily. Counter left hook for Hatanaka. Commentators screaming, but sort of getting swept up in the moment and overreacting to each shot from either man; neither is all that hurt. Just tired and with increasingly leaky defense on both sides. A couple of right hand leads for Hatanaka. Now he attacks the body and comes up flurrying, but there is Biendima waiting for him with a left hook. They swap blows and Biendima seems to have Hatanaka hurt with a short chopping right, running him down and throwing a few big looping shots. Hatanaka ducks low and most of them sail over his back. Now he rises up and trades with Biendima. Both get hit.

    10-9 Hatanaka, close

    97-93 Hatanaka

Wow, those are some ridiculously wide cards. Yeah, the right guy won, but Jesus. Biendima needed at lest 6 KD's to win on points.
