Marquez conquered his weight division and wars with Vasquez, Hatton unbeaten at 140 and did win a belt that I thought Collazo won, Pavlick to me is a question mark, his best wins were with Taylor, but he posseses two parts of the MW division, Margarito beat one of the high ranked P4P fighter in Cotto and Clottey. I just believe Williams needs more and he is on his way with the exception of some of that unnessary in fighting. Well, Cotto fought better opposition than Williams and he only lost one time and could avenge or not. Really, look at what he has done so far, which is a start, but not top ten qualifying. His best name that he beat is Margarito, that is it. Q was beat badly by Cotto and some thought he was a B rated fighter. Santos a C level fight??? Multiple weight class is not the only way to be P4P. Dominating your weight class is also a P4P way to get in.
1. Manny Pacquiao 2. Joe Calzaghe 3. Juan Manuel Marquez 4. Isreal Vasquez 5. Ricky Hatton 6. Wladimir Klitschko 7. Ivan Calderon 8. Antonio Margarito 9. Miguel Cotto 10. Vic Darchinyan
Come on now, if Hopkins fights some of these young hungry 175 fighters, but he is looking for money. Pavlick was a MW and Joe was a close fight. Let him fight Chad or the WBC champ. You can't get blinded by the fact he beat a MW. Vic won titles in two divisions and he dominated and knocked out Mijares and becoming the first unified champ at that weight.
Joe is THE best 175 fighter right now. And as you said, it was a close fight. If you think many of those "young hungry 175 fighters" apart from Dawson actually have a decent chance vs Hopkins you are mistaken mate.
Your right, but then again PBF was P4P the best and Oscar gave him a close fight. Should Oscar be in the top ten? I believe Oscar and Bernard are doing the same. Hopkins fought as a LHW vs a MW and Oscar is fighting Pac and maybe Hatton. Fighting for the money, not for P4P supremacy and even though Pac is number one, Oscar is way to big and strong for him. We will see come Dec. 6.
Imo Mayweather vs Oscar was NOT as close as Calzaghe vs Hopkins. Plus, Floyd jumped up in weight for that fight, so comparing their performances Mayweather did much better than Joe, and vs a naturally bigger guy. As for the money comment, I agree 100% as far as Oscar is concerned. Hopkins challenging Calzaghe was a much harder task and braver move than Oscar challenging Manny Pacquiao. :good
