This will probably be deleted & I get banned but hey ho. I think most people are aware of CBZ. The message boards have been shutdown & recently was offline. They are back online but locked (no new posts) but there are some sections that may come in useful for history buffs such as stats & research sections. Just letting you know, awaiting the ban.
I don't think you should be banned as we're always referencing the Zizzle and Boxrizzle. And Googizzle, Mufizzles. This content is protected It should be a given you can mention it when something important is going on there, I feel. But I may be wrong. It's a huge resource for pretty much everyone that posts on this section of ESB.
Anyone posting regularly on this board does so for the sole purpose of furthering their knowledge. Info like that which doesn't rival esb should be fine to discuss.
Why would you be banned ? Boards like this one are partially why the CBZ went out ... it was a terrific , no glitz site that had a wonderful core group of regulars through the years but also had very stringent rules demanding decency between posters that became more and more heavily enforced by a frustrated publisher who was simply losing interest in the effort ... as a result traffic dwindled on the forum to very, very few regulars ... no way to build advertising or graduate that business model compared to a site like this one where it's like a jr high school play yard ... that plus the publishers simply lost interest in the day to day efforts and expenses of running a site .. The CBZ was and remains a terrific resource and had a wonderful run ... Gor and Mike were true pioneers and gave us a ton of good times.
have seen others mentioned they had been banned for mentioning other sites. The boards were down are now back up (no longer active for posts) for anyone who gives a ****. Luf, I know you are an knowledgeable guy but I don't go in for the parochial mindset of just because you use one site it means it's the oracle. There are nuggets from all over the net if you search. As an example I put you onto the Maxie Rosenbloom articles elsewhere. There are some terrific threads on this site but also lots of fluff, anyway this is not about who's the best, there's info all over for anyone who cares.
When I said rival I meant they don't rival because this is a message board and a forum and cbz isn't in that category. It's more a research tool.
Ok my mistake, just thought you were dismissing it outright. Like HE Grant said they had stringent rules on the boards which shagged it up but I love the info that is on there although some may be a bit dated now.
This content is protected L-to-R CBZ bossman, Gor, me and the late Greg Beyer @ the 2006 California Boxing Hall of Fame luncheon .
ah well, here's a last tip of the hat to the old CBZ forum, t'was a beacon of classic american boxing knowledge in it's time. [yt]U06jlgpMtQs[/yt]
Not true. Some of us post on her regularly for the sole reason that we need a rest from our internet porn-assisted wanking schedule.
CBZ was the best Historical place for boxing on the internet and it's NO Bull**** policy attracted some of the finest researchers and historians in the Business of Boxing! it might resurface again at some point in the future.
