Like, no disrespect to Svensson or Jacobs as they're both solid B+ fighters, but they're in with elites that stand in their own stratosphere head and shoulders above their nearest runners-up.

IB funfact: this is just the second boxing card in Norway in 33 years, following Brækhus vs. Mathis II last October. Brækhus herself campaigned for years to lift the country's ban on the sport and has now headlined both of their major events since.

 

Well, hold the phone....there is some added intrigue here.

Brækhus reportedly had some trouble on the scales (first time I can remember that happening) but ultimately did make weight.

Plus, she is on bad terms with Sauerland after splitting with the powerhouse of northern European boxing promotion (along with in-house coach Ulli Wegner), and they have Svensson on their roster. With their connections there is a slim chance that Brækhus faces a robbery in her own backyard unless she leaves absolutely NO doubt and doesn't allow it to be close...or better still, to go the distance.

 

Cece now promotes herself, nominally, via First Lady Promotions - a vanity imprint with her wagon hitched to K2. Likewise, she traded in her Sauerland coach for Johnathan Banks, training partner and de facto coach of Wladimir Klitschko since the demise of Kronk guru Manny Steward.

This is an upgrade IMO. Banks doesn't have a deeply proven dossier as head trainer, and many have questioned how much his presence really adds to Wladimir's corner, but even a lump of coal is probably a better chief second than Wegner. Besides, with the style Brækhus developed for herself Banks' intimate familiarity with Steward's principles of jab-reliant, unabashedly clinch-friendly outside boxing is a natural fit.

 

If she hits, say, 40-0 and the next ten opponents are equal to or greater than Svensson, it certainly gives her the longevity and quantity-of-quality (even if she never lands a fellow prime female ATG in the ring) to make the case for it, yes.

 

Hell even 35-0 at this rate she'd be knocking on the door.
