Who are these guys, how old are they, and how far removed from their football prime were they?

Football is probably the most brutal sport in America, more brutal than boxing and MMA.

Isn't it safe to assume that they've probably lost a step?

normally you come in to troll and stir up **** with the mma fans..but you make a good point. and actually a few good mma guys are out their who where nfl..but usually its either old guys doing it..or guys who where not good enough athletes to make it in the nfl...either one doesnt say anything about how a top line in shape nfl guy would do with training.

its like guys who say klitschko or Pac would stand no chance in mma because james toney couldnt do it...

Oh, some of the cast of one of the recent TUF's, Mitrione appears to be the only one with any hope of being high level.

Johnny Morton of course got a nice nap from a African stand up comic.

Like I said though, if they were started at a young age, it's different, as they would still be athletic.

HENDO...maybe if Urlacher had been in a combat sport as a child..maybe...but he wasnt..if he had started at 20...he likely would stand next to zero chance aganst Bas....

i know you mostly come in here to talk smack on the mma guys..and its all good fun..but have you ever watched Bas..he is a bad mother****er. As for NFL guys....football is a hard hard sport...still, a fighter needs something else....to get punched in the face takes a special kind of man...linebackers are tough guys..but i have a feeling even out of that group....not all would have the attiude to do a combat sport.

being an athlete has nothing to do with fighting.
many great fighters arent great athletes.. mir, fedor, demian maia, royce gracie etc..
none of these guys are going to be breaking powerlifting or endurance records anytime soon. look at sean sherk.. hes a physical specimen and not even close to the best around anymore.

ummm it has something to do wtih fighting....

but mir fedor...may not be the fastes or the strongest..but they have a good combination of things....and lots of those BJJ guys are super flexabile and double jointed...that can help too....

yeah fair call but you get my drift.

the most important traits any fighter can have are coordination and the ability to focus.. everything else is is built around these aspects.
