The reason was for drug related charges.

On March 10, 2016, the former boxer was arrested in the North Corridor, in the direction of the province of Colón, after packages of cocaine were found in his vehicle. Officers seized a total of 10.87 kilos of drugs.

10 keys of coke consider your self lucky you only got 5 years.

So he went from being boxings premiere avoided boogey man for a while and less than a decade later he's hauling 10 kilo's of cocaine around and doing hard time?

I'm not sure if this says more about the financial situations of many ex fighters or the general intelligence level of them...

I hear being a premier avoided boogeyman doesn’t pay very well.

I'm aware, I somehow can't imagine he made peanuts during his career.

    Oh, Pelenchin.

I just got through reading about the details of Harry Simon's (who btw is starting another comeback in a couple of months) stint in jail a decade or so back. He dislodged himself from traffic, attempted to cut everybody off by speeding in the wrong direction thinking it was clear, and rammed a Belgian family (including a baby) head-on, killing them. :ohno Like, man, I can't root for you anymore...

Not that Caballero necessarily did anything that bad, if this is just possession that's more a victimless crime, but still. Boxers need to stop doing all the dumb ****. The number of "happily ever after" stories is minuscule...you either get belated or postponed or canceled retirements until CTE begins to develop, or somebody falls into crime, or they get murdered, or kill themselves, or end up in jail.

Rare is the Popo Freitas just eating well, getting fat, wearing women's clothing, dancing in parades, and enjoying a life of public service. There needs to be a much greater proportion of Popos.

Just out of pure curiosity, what is the purpose of stating that the family he killed were from Belgium?

I don't know, ask every news agency that reported the case, including the local Namibian media? They were a family of tourists on holiday, that seems to have been deemed worth including by any publication that has written about the incident. If you're trying to imply that there is any agenda on my part (as though it would be any less tragic if they were any other nationality) you can take a ****ing walk. I'm just transcribing the data, slightly reworded, just a step away from copy & pasting.
