Yep, same goes for Khurtsidze, unfortunately, even though he's a fan-fave. You can't just run around breaking legs and collecting debts for the Russian mob and then be like "but-but-but I was just moonlighting for some old buddies from back in Georgia!! I only meant to scare those dudes, their legs must just be really brittle (or I don't really know my own strength, tee-hee! ). I was supposed to have fought BJS !!!"

I'm not straight edge per se, I'm just a boring domesticated old fart & dad. Probably says as much about the average income levels of people in Panama which looks like it's 1/10 what people in the US live on. Two hundred grand in Panama would be like two million bucks in the US. Hard to say no to that kind of money. I mean, he isn't the hugest scumbag we've ever heard of in the sport. He's no James Butler, Edwin Valero, Ernest Mateen, Luis Alberto Lazarte, or Escopeta. I think cold-blooded killers and kiddie diddlers and savage chronic domestic abusers outrank hired loansharking racketeer muscle on the HOPE (hierarchy of pure evil) and deserve a deeper circle of hell.

Khurtsidze, if the most he ever did was a few shakedowns, roughing up a few compulsive-gambling losers that were dumb enough to borrow from the mob, eh, he deserves maybe purgatory at worst. I'll still be glad to hear of him getting paroled and getting a second chance if that happens. (assuming no recidivism)

Same with Pelenchin if he was holding or transporting large quantities of drugs for somebody (I find it hard to believe he would be anything more than a mule; he's a bit high-profile a figure to hope to also low-key build a narc empire or be a kingpin ), then yeah, he's an idiot and deserves some jailtime, but he also didn't kill or **** anyone, so he's quite a ways from the bottom rung of the human feces ladder in the sport.

 

For a Super Bantam or a Featherweight? Of course, he made peanuts. Champs below welterweight, with a very few exceptions if they are lucky they might make a couple of hundred grand a year, like a lawyer would. Lomachenko makes enormous money for that weight at a million a fight. It's unheard of. Roman Gonzalez made maybe 2 million dollars as a flyweight over the course of nearly fifty fights, and most of that in the last six.
