Does anyone have any thoughts on 'Pelenchin'? There are was a time where I though he might be destined for the IBHOF. He rebounded from a few early career losses to beat an unbeaten Daniel Ponce De Leon, won and defended the WBA title several time before unifying the title against Steve Molitor in what resembled a 122 lbs version of Hearns vs Duran, in Molitor's native Canada no less. After beating Indonesia's Daud YordanHBO starting showing real interest in Caballero, at which point Caballero promptly laid a huge egg in an lethargic upset loss to Jason Litzau. Despite some good accomplishments, he seemed to be a disappointment.
Have not heard that name in a while. He sat at the "elites' table" for quite a long time without ever getting his full due from the fans, and then before you know it he became shoot almost overnight. It wasn't just the Litzau fight; he looked bad against Mathebula too. Could even call it a robbery (and I don't think, as many do, that Caballero himself was robbed in the first Jonathan Victor Barros fight) Really after the Molitor fight, everything from 2009 onward was a severely diminished Caballero. People got confused because his domination of solid contender Daud Yordan belied that fact, but a) that was a stylistic gimme for Caballero and b) Yordan had visa issues delaying his entry into the US, and he was suffering jetlag & insomnia.
