Why weigh in at all? In high school and college duel meets we weighed in right before we wrestled. In freestyle tounaments, any age, was you weigh in, then go to breakfast then wrestle all day. For college tournaments it was the night before, then wrestled in the morning and that was plenty of time. For boxing now they get over 24 hours or more, which is alot. Of coarse the difference with boxing is their brain takes a pounding and they need to have the liquid in the brain to help cushion the blows. Boxers put on a crazy amount of weight in 24 hours.

Maybe it has something to do with gender. What happens if a man says he's a women then is forced to strip to make weight only to be found out at the weigh ins? It might ruin the whole event.

I like them. They build up a big fight and to me it is good.

Just heard some pundits on the Davies / Cunningham stream state that rumour is that Spence looked very tight during the real weigh in.

So Spence/Crawford already weighed in? couldn't find any source confirming it, they didn't look hydrated at all, guess they have gone the UFC way then if this becomes the norm.

Yeah that seems to be what happened. I'm watching the Davies / Cunningham broadcast right now and that's what the announcers just said. Spence looked like he had a hard time making weight.

Okay didn't know that, why would they do this?

Maybe just wanted both fighters healthy & ready & by not jeopardizing the big event.

I admire your optimism. I'm more skeptical. This is all new to me and the gears are turning and my opinion is still forming but with legalized gambling for the masses and the unregulated nature of boxing I feel like there's a far more sinister reason.

    Far you reckon?

You could be correct as I'm a little behind to shenanigans & showtime/PBC are definitely top billing for those sorts of reasons.

shadow111 is usually an absolute mingmongoloid but I agree with him here. This ceremonial bs is just annoying - fighters weighing in behind closed doors even further from the first bell - 36 hours?? - makes even more of a mockery of weight divisions. And we already know if they've missed weight .

Gives them more time to (safely) rehydrate

Because gambling is legalized. The less people know the better for the bookies.
