Now I don’t mean this in any way disrespectful to Shawn Porter because I’m a big fan of him and he was a top welterweight. But it feels like as a fighter people talk about his close losses against the top welterweights instead of his actual wins. He’s got wins over Danny Garcia, Ugas and Broner but people always talk about him performing well against Crawford, Spence, Thurman and Brook. It must annoy him a little.

What other fighters have got more credit for their close losses or brave losses than their wins?

Jersey Joe Walcott can be watered down to giving Louis and Marciano hellish fights.

Michael Spinks getting KOed in 91 seconds against Tyson.

Wait, didn't read the OP. I thought this was about fighters who are more known for their losses than their wins.
