He's a fringe world level operator at the moment with plenty of time to improve under the tutelage of Roach.

Yea, Sergio would need some of that extra strength Rogaine to stop this kid, he's a huge MW.

I still think Sergio would outpoint Chavez Jr. but that's due to his lack luster defense and willingness to eat punches, but after what I've seen yesterday night, it wouldn't be a cake walk, that's for sure.

:-( Me neither. What's he supposed to do? Change his name to Estevez, tell Arum to shove his paychecks, go to Martinez's house and give him the belt back, apologize for Sulaiman being a **** and find work in construction? ****'s sake.

agreed and we all know Sergio has a tough time with tall jabbers

If Chavez moves well he can trouble Martinez and left hooks to the body may slow him down and immobilize him and make him a sitting duck

Actually that would be Zbiks job, Martinez got stripped belt went to Zbik and then Martinez beat Zbik

so technically Chavez jr wasnt handed the belt out right he had to win and beat a credibility guy

sure the holder was not Martinez but his win over Zbik for the belt was way better than who Alvarez beat to get his

When a man steps into the ring with a belt that says champion then you expect to see a well rounded master of the skills of boxing. Chavez dosnt have that yet, However he has fluid movement , raw talent and great potential. Hes gonna be a major force in boxing if he continues to refine his skills. Maybe if he loses his belt, it will help more than hinder his progress.:bbb:bbb:bbb

He's getting better. I thought he looked decent last night (nothing special, but no where near a bum). I like his style, he's entertaining to watch, and he has a pretty damn good cheen.

    Glorified: Yes

    Bum: No

He's a good middleweight in a good middleweight division.

Doesn't deserve to hold the WBC strap and in my opinion has to fight Martinez to make it legit. He'll lose that fight 9 times out of 10 though so I doubt it'll be made. As much as we rag on Chavez for that let's not forget that Martinez was dumb enough to go along with Sulaiman's plans so the man can't complain.

My judgement on him isn't based on the list of cab drivers he fought to build his record, i'm judging him based on where he is now.

He's still young, not a prospect though so he needs to pick it up.

    Competition that's out there:

Sturm, Golovkin, Pirog, Geale, Macklin, Lee, Quillin, N'jikam, Proksa, Rubio

Maybe the return to middleweight of:

    Pavlik, Taylor, Abraham

And of course the king of the castle:

    Sergio Martinez

Plenty of good fights at 160 so let's judge him on the fights he takes. Oh and as for him facing the winner of Cotto-Margarito - it'll be a decent fight which we'd all watch so we can't rag on it too much.

Will he face Canelo Alvarez? Two cash cows, one from Top Rank, one from Golden Boy......do you honestly see that fight getting made any time soon?!?

If I'm correct, Martinez didn't have amateur experience either. Jr. needs to step it up. He keeps fighting C-level fighters. He's not a disgrace, it's the fact that he's a CHAMPION that's the disgrace. He simply doesn't deserve a belt at this point in his career. Manfredy is not a credible challenger. A guy like Andy Lee has paid his dues more than Manfredy and deserves a shot. Hell, Manfredy was a SMW. Chavez just needs to fight credible challengers. It's not just Arum that is protecting him, it's the WBC also. That is the disgrace.
