I like Dawson, I rate him, but I don't really understand the premise for this thread. How is slipping two punches from an old, slowed warrior and pivoting back into the centre of the ring an "amazing" move? To me that's just standard maneouvering, nothing out of the ordinary. I think we should all calm down with the superlatives here.
Eh, I think it's a big deal because these days at light heavy there aren't many highly skilled fighters. You definately didn't see Yusaf Mack do that against Johnson. You don't see Cloud do that against Woods, didn't recall seeing Pascal do it against Froch;and these guys are around Dawson's age. Plus, he makes it look pretty effortless.
If there's one thing he's not, it's underrated. I see him ranked P4P 5-10 on every list I see now. Top 10 is a fair ranking for him, I'd just like to see a few more of the questionable P4P stragglers get booted off the list so other, more deserving fighters can make the list, too. Underappreciated? Now, that there may be an argument for considering he doesn't have much of a fanbase yet. He needs to take and win some fights against fighters around his own age with a good name and look good doing it- Pascal's an excellent start. The rest of the guys that fit that description are in 168 right now. Cloud wouldn't fight him and has significantly less exposure than Dawson himself.
