It doesn't help that he's been fading against guys who punch damned hard, either. Practically any decent world-class opponent can knock out another one if they land the right shot, but Taylor's been taking some big time shots from guys who are legit punchers, and accumulation KO's like he's suffered are almost always more dangerous than one punch flash KO's. Jermain's got to seriously take that into account in weighing how much he wants to return.

Great post! :good ... many strong comparisons . Chad does seem to lack that killer instinct to finish his opponent... maybe its because he grew up with good family influence (especially from his father) and seems to be to nice! He needs to get mean and want to hurt his opponent.

He has much better stamina and heart I think than Taylor did..... Taylor could have beat KP in the rematch if he had a little bit more left in the tank the last two rounds. We all saw Taylor vs Froch,....even against Lacy, Taylor didn't go in for the kill. Chad has shown that he can take a shot and recover quickly and also has pretty good stamina, unlike Taylor ....

I think Chad will be a better champion than Taylor, he is only 26 and already has names like Tarver, Johnson & Adamek on his unbeaten record. A 6'3 , speedy southpaw like Dawson could give anyone at SMW or LHW a rough night. He has all the physical tools and great boxing skill... just needs to have more of that killer instinct.

Plus he needs to become more marketable , many people won't find his style that appealing.

I think they're lacking both. It's mental, which also drains you physically.

They both have problems closing fights. I just don't believe is only physical with Jermaine. He's got too much nervous energy.

JT commits to the fight more than Dawson. That being said, stamina is a problem for both.

Pretty good comparison, They do both lack the needed "Killer Instinct".

How is Dawson a nervous fighter? He is very very calm in the ring.

With Chad, there seems to be something lacking mentally. He just doesn't do quite enough, possibly a side-effect of his personal problems. It sounds like a tired cliche, but the loss may very well be the best thing to happen to him. It might give him the kick up the ass he needs to be more active during rounds and not back off and admire his own work. There's no doubt whatsoever that he's a brilliant athlete, physically gifted and a very solid technical fighter but he needs to work on the mental side

Chad Dawson couldn't finish a cheeseburger if he was starving to death.

not quite right. Dawson had his best round in the 11th. He had something in the tank. But didn't quite have the will to win. He was already probably thinking "no worries, I have a rematch clause"
