If Dawson can keep up the pressure and the tempo, then he has the tools to win. But I think he has got in the habit of being a bit lazy, and he can't afford that at all.

Hopkins always has a game plan, but he can be beaten by guys who happen to be superior athletes, if they use it right.

To start with, this is very good that Chad still considers himself steps above Bernard Hopkins in terms of strategical wisdom and technical advantage because that means that he expects Hopkins to show up just to see what happens and get out of the situations as best as he can. Hopkins is given just the benefit of being adjustable which is quite daring from a guy who was surprised throughout by Jean Pascal who had no iniative whatsoever against Bernard. In my personal opinion, Chad like many others expects to perform at his highest level physically and technically and the age factor to tell the rest of the tale, no surprise here... To my eyes, there's no technical advantage even though I admit Chad is skilled, there's no physical advantage because Bernard is stronger, tougher and most probably knows better how to deal with it, there's no psychological disadvantage because Bernard is clearly a wolf compared to a soft guy mentally like Chad and that means during each and every second of the fight... So I guess this could be another Dawson-Tarver or Dawson-Johnson but I doubt it.

Dawson isn't Pascal, Pavlik, or even Calzaghe. Dawson is a totally different boxer than what Hopkins has previously faced. It doesn't matter what Hopkins does because he won't have an answer to what Dawson does.

Hopkins although fighting at a high level considering his age, he has limits, he has shown his limits, and it's up to Dawson to expose that, and I think he will.

Thats because everytime they would do something Hopkins would just move away and counter.
Same thig with Tarver. The main reason why Pascal beat the **** out of Dawson was cos Dawson pretty much just stood in one place.

That's true, if he had lost he could have used his mother's death as an excuse, but as he got the victory people claim it is the reason he won.

Dawson seems like a good guy and Hopkins is Hopkins; a master of his craft, always worth watching. Nice to have a good fight like this to look forward to!

What Chad is going to bring to the Staples on October 15 is his face to look up into Bernard's eyes and execute. you know you gat to look at your opponen's eyes when you fight. Well, if he's going to look for too long, maybe his arms will lose strength and his punches will lose sharpness... And then what, yo ass gets beat when you ain't doing nothing but freezing under the lights. Yeah, i said it... Chad is a good boxer, he ain't no fighter tho.

Pascal and Pavlik had a low work rate BECAUSE Hopkins was effectively moving and countering

Hopkins obviously always has a game plan. To say otherwise is silly. Simply blaming inactivity for the losses Pavlik and Pascal suffered is also a crude, caveman-like oversimplification of what happened. Those guys were less active because they were getting hit more often than they were used to. A simple look at their common opponents demonstrates Hopkins's superiority. Hopkins had a draw and a victory over Pascal. Dawson lost to Pascal. Dawson had two competitive fights against a 42-year old Tarver. Hopkins schooled Tarver and knocked him down. Dawson had a life-and-death match with Johnson once and a clear victory the second time. Hopkins stopped Glen for Johnson's only TKO loss. Of course none of this means Hopkins will win against Dawson. But counting him out if Dawson gets aggressive is ridiculous.
Hopkins will be, by leaps and bounds, the most skilled, toughest, dirtiest, meanest, hardest, and most intimidating guy Dawson has ever been in the ring with. Dawson probably isn't even one of Hopkins's top 10 toughest opponents. If this fight gets nasty the question that needs to be asked is "Can Dawson handle the pressure?" We know Hopkins can.

    Chad's a nice guy

To say Hopkins has no plan, isn't quite right.. Although i think BHop has a plan, but also its true too that he waits to see what his opponent is bringing than he adjusts, thats an amazing skill.

I think Chad will beat him though..

There is a general trend for Hopkins opponents to have lower than normal workrates, Pavlik, Pascal, Tito, Tarver and Wright all threw many fewer punches than they normally would. Hopkins eats slow footed, offensive fighters alive. You have to be in range to be able to throw and Hopkins is great at never allowing his opponent to be in position to throw a punch.

Calzaghe was the only offensive fighter who has been able to prevent Hopkins from doing his thing which is staying at a comfortable range where his opponent is not set to punch. Calzaghe was so successful, not because he was so aggressive but because his footwork and agility allowed him to be so aggressive and set such a high pace. Had Calzaghe not been able to get in position to throw, he would have been like every other recent Hopkins opponent, throwing very little and constantly out of position to throw.

Hopkins always has a game plan, he would not have taken the Dawson fight if he didn't have a plan to execute and win the fight. Personally I think Dawson can win, not because he is more active or faster than Hopkins but because Dawson has the footwork and agility to be in a position to throw. The big question is will Dawson show up and perform to the best of his ability? If he does he wins, if not he's in for a frustrating night.

Regardless of Hopkins abilities today, he always has a gameplan. Maybe Dawson is a little slow.

Course dawsons gonna talk confident and that Hopkins doesn't have a game plan to defeat him ! To talk Hopkins up at this point would be to concede defeat before a punch is thrown. I personally think hopkins is going to win but I'd be disappointed if Dawson wasn't confident of winning !
