"I pplaud Joe's Decision. It's Obvious he and his faimly gave it a lot of thought"
"Timing is everything and to leave center stage at his peak is rare and certainly comparable to the retirements of rocky marciano and jim brown. Joe left on his own terms. what could be better? he held the supper middleweight champship longer than anyone, successfully defended it at a record 21 times, unified the titles, and then moved up to light heavyweight beating two future hall of famers. he has been a man for all seasons and will be an inspiration to me as i look to meet and beat his records. On behalf of all your boxing fans i say, 'thank you, joe'. and now i am ready to succeed joe as teh new king. I have dethroned two world champions in tomasz adamek and antonio tarver and defended the title against glen johnson. I'm only 26 years old and im ready to fight the best at 175 for a very long tme.... WELCOME TO THE DAWSON ERA"

    lmao this guy is funny

Yeah its good that Joe left, because now Dawson can get his hands on that ring magazine title and actually consistently fight top level opponents and give fans what they want. I feel Dawson will be the better champion. Joe is a great fighter and accomplished what he wanted to, but in only 27 fights Chad has taken more risks than Joe did when he was in his early 30's.

Dawson is the present and future of the light heavy weight division. The guy has all the tools; he is still very young and is continuously improving. As long as he stays motivated and focused, he should reign for a while.

I was suprised he didn't toss in a little You retired to avoid me type thing to try and get a Calzaghe/Dawson fight considered by Calzaghe.

Calzaghe would never have fought him anyways. So the only reason Dawson would be relieved is because now there is noone claiming to be the man at Lightheavy but who won't fight him.

I'd be relieved too. No need to waste my time calling out some guy who will never fight me anyways.

I'd love to see what Dawson could do against Hopkins.

Age isnt relevant, Hopkins is better than Tarver and Johnson put together, even at his age he is a master at what he does. Johnson beat Dawson too imo
