    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chad Dawson Is A Box Office Bust

Greenwich, Connecticut - The Paper Champions Society reports that reliable sources within Ticketmaster and the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut have stated that tickets sales for the rematch between Chad Dawson and Glen Johnson have been moving very slow. Sources have told us that there are still plenty of tickets available at the 16,000 seat XL Center in Hartford.

"Chad Dawson thinks he is a great champion but in reality he is a paper champion who can't even sell tickets in his own home town. The boxing fans are tired of this fake Chad Dawson hype machine. Chad Dawson in his last couple of fights has looked very boring in the ring and he needs to step up and give the fans their monies worth when he fights in November. I want Chad Dawson to realize in order to be a great fighter you have to fight great in the ring and so far you have not done that" John Wexler explained.

"It's a shame that Gary Shaw & HBO have hyped up Chad Dawson and made him believe that he is one of the next great champions in boxing. Everyone witnessed what happened when Victor Ortiz was hyped up by Golden Boy Promotions & HBO as the next big thing in boxing. Ortiz got into a tough fight with a real fighter like Marcos Maidana who refused to lose and Ortiz got his ass handed to him." John Wexler explained.

"Gary Shaw & HBO has forced Chad Dawson to jump off a tall skyscraper without a parachute and believe me it won't be a soft landing for Chad Dawson. The real truth is everyone in the boxing business knows that no matter what Chad Dawson and his team will tell you, Chad Dawson was not in favor of fighting a tough rematch with Glen Johnson. HBO has forced Chad Dawson another undeserving fighter like Victor Ortiz into a situation he is not ready for" John Wexler explained.

What I find very strange is that Gary Shaw Productions received higher priced offers from venues in Nevada & California to host this highly anticipated rematch but instead chose to accept a lower priced offer in Hartford? The live gate for the last two Chad Dawson fights in Las Vegas have not done well. All of the great fighters of this era can sell tickets anywhere especially in Las Vegas. I thought that boxing promoters wanted to make money but in the case of Gary Shaw for some strange reason he wants to lose money. Gary Shaw needs to be honest with himself and realize that by promoting Chad Dawson he is losing money, Chad Dawson can't sell tickets in Las Vegas and he can't even sell tickets in his own home town. Chad Dawson can't sell tickets anywhere because he is a paper champion who makes boring television fights that force boxing fans to turn the channel and watch UFC.

This is such bull****, Dawson's fights not be that entertaining but that's because he's a pure boxer not a brawler. His fights are no less entertaining than PBF's or B-Hop's. He just isn't popular for some strange reason, but what does him selling tickets have to do with how good of a boxer he is? It doesn't. John Wexler is an idiot. He compared Dawson to Victor Ortiz! Seriously. Dawson beat Tarver 2x and Adamek, among others. Ortiz never beat anybody noteworthy. Dawson's fights don't sell because he has no personality. To call him a paper champion is a completely obsurd statement.

    Yea why isnt Dawson popular?
I dont know why but whenever he is fighting im just no intrigued to watch....

I think it could have somethinig to do with his opposition he doesnt really have anyone worth fighting at 175. I guess its a division i dont follow much but i cant think of anyone other than Johnson, Hopkins or Roy taht fight there. And 2 of those 3 are tied up for a while already and u know they wont be fighting Dawson.
Maybe Dawson shuold pull an Adamek and move up or down.

Lets blame this **** on Gary Shaw who's put all of his time in focus on Bradley and that damn super six tournament neglecting, his prized and most accomplished fighter in Dawson ...

I mos def disagree...Chad has proven himself IMO...I mean he had those 2 ALMOST meaningless victories over Tarver who is still the bottom half of the top 10 for the LHW division..Also I would rank Glen Johnson top 6 and he took a close decision in that fight AND NOW HE IS TAKING THAT FIGHT IN A REMATCH...UR RIGHT THOUGH HE ISN'T AN EVENT DRAW AT ALL....

Dawson is one of the best fighter p4p ... 2-time world champion ... worked his way up 3 divisions ... beat reigning cruiserweight champion (who til this day on has the one loss to Dawson) beat the likes of former light heavyweight champions, Antonio Taver and Glenn Johnson ...

ItÂ’s great to see a troll taking such pride in his work, rather than just regurgitating the same old Mayweather/Pacquiao/Klitschko brothers ****.

    Keep it up paperchamp :good

Don't give this nonsense the time of day - these threads should be deleted. Just an unfunny joke badly in need of an editor.

    Maybe, but Floyd and B-Hop:-

    a) Have character.
    b) Have proven themselves far in excess of Dawson.

To me Chad Dawson is the most overrated boxer in the world. That doesn't mean I don't think he's not talented but when I see him put on P4P top 10's without even clearing out one of the weakest divisions in boxing (granted not his fault hopkins wont fight him)....having an average resume...and having achieved no more than the likes of Kessler, the Klits, Bradley, Soto, Guzman, John etc it angers me.

    Boring fighter with no personality.

    Best fighters P4P????

    Why??

    - Because he beat weight drained and slightly limited Adamek??
    - Because he beat the past prime Antonio Tarver?? A guy that was just above average in his prime and lived off koing RJJ.
    - Because he struggled to victory against old man Johnson (I had the fight a draw)??

Tell me how that's better than the likes of Bradley, Kessler, either Klit, Pavlik, Soto, Guzman, John???
