    Whichever way he's the loser.
If he beats Hopkins people will just say 'he beat an old man'
If he loses people will just say 'we always knew Dawson was hyped. How could he be beaten by an old man?'
What makes it worse is if Hopkins beats him then he could be damaged like Pavlik mentally

Will you give credit to Dawson if he wins?

  2. Definitely. Dawson failed once against Pascal and got written off too fast. Very good boxer and I expect him to stop Hopkins.

I dont think thats true. Hopkins just won the title against a young hungry champion, and Hopkins pretty much schooled him. People wont forget that. So if Dawson wins Il give him huge amounts of props

He needs to beat him convincenly to recieve credit, not a close fight.

It depends on how the fight goes. He'll get a certain amount of credit from me. Hopkins has just defeated the man who handed him his first loss, so it's not as if Dawson is fighting a nobody here. He'll deserve his credit, especially seeing as though so many are writing him off.

However, all things have to be considered - Hopkins' age being one of them. If he wins, I'll still be regarding it as a win over a far past-prime legend.

A Hopkins fight is one of the worst fights you can make for a fighter in boxing these days imo. Its a no win fight for Dawson for sure.

It it's a boring fight where both fighters play it defenseively, my opinion won't change very much. Dawson is a fabulous athlete but boxing is his work, not his passion. My opinion of him will change if his attitude changes. His talent is not questionable, his will is.

Bottom line: the way he fights, win or lose, will make the difference.

You're right. Look how people call Pascal a bum because he has lost to him. Don't get me wrong, Pascal has flaws, he's not perfect but he's not a bum.

People call Pavlik a bum also for losing to Hopkins. Yet even if you edge out a decision or draw against Hopkins which is tough to do you dont get much credit. Calazaghe, Pascal even Taylor did not get much credit.

People would say he didn't beat a prime Bernard Hopkins, and that's obviously true.

Doesn't change the fact that he would have beaten the best Light Heavyweight in the world. That's the problem when a great fighter is still able to have success past his prime. After a loss people automatically assume that "he was old" means "he wasn't a good fighter anymore."

Dawson might win the decision cause hes young and considered the future of boxing but he wont beat hopkins.

I disagree. If he KOs Hopkins or dominates, he will get a ton of credit. But if he wins a snooze fest, he won't get much credit. And he does have the talent to dominate Hopkins if his mind is right.
