Chad Dawson ko'd by Edison Miranda while sparring

What Miranda was bringing to prepare Dawson for Ward? i mean Miranda style is nothing like Ward!

 

Seems strange. Miranda was in against Ward so maybe they wanted a guidepost. Just don't know the thinking.

if he was knocked out they(camp) wouldve immediately ended training and sent him to a hospital or doctor. a knockout is generally regarded as a concussion but you dont need to be knocked out to have a concussion.

if dawson was indeed ko'd then a responsible camp would not have allowed chad to spar or even train for at least ten days(or longer) as the effects would still be lingering. i would assume that not training for ten days this close to the fight would have definately affected his cut and by the looks of dawson at the weigh-ins he does not look like a fighter who had to break camp and of a person who had a bad weigh-cut in his first attempt at 168 in over six years.

fwiw, chad is at +290 when he was at +300 yesterday, before the weigh-in. follow the money today and that will in all likelihood tell you what really happened between chad dawson and edison miranda.

 

edison doesnt work for free. he would know first-hand what to expect from ward and would be able to emulate andre's inside tactics as well as anyone.

winky was also in camp with dawson for b-hop. winky fights nothing like bernard and is two weight classes below him.

 

Dawson gets a check at most, what? Twice a year? $600K reported guarantee for this fight. It's a rough sport where people are known to suck it up and keep going.

 

Hard to believe but anythings possible. Dawson will likely lose though imo since he's going down, in Oakland and isn't a big hitter, Ward can box very well too.

 

I think a lot of people are confusing possible with what they consider plausible. We are talking weeks of opportunity here.

Chad is a ripped fighter and has very little extra body fat to lose; hence, he will likely makeup that 7 lb drop in fluid loss. Less fluids in the body means a greater state of dehydration which correlates to less spinal fluid, which helps absorb forces to the brain. I've seen study data indicating that for every 1% loss of water in a human, below what is considered the dehydration threshold, something on the magnitude of like a 5+ % loss in energy output is measured.

Keeping in mind that 24 hr weigh ins make cutting weight as standard as training camp and almost always come into weigh ins way below the dehydration threshold, it is not a far fetch for Chad to have just taken off more than he can chew. As people age sensitivities to detrimental stimulus's such as dehydration commonly change and it's often times not for the better.

If these rumors are true, I would be significantly worried about Chad's health and only hold solace that Ward is not a big puncher. Miranda hits like a bull though, so who knows how much more susceptible Chad's brain is going to be on fight night. If he gets KO'd tonight then we will then know for sure why he did.

 

I just read an article with Renan St-Juste who his sparring partner for Chavez Jr , and he sa he went have lunch with Roach and Roach talk about the Dawson - Miranda Sparring KO , so there's probably something true there!
