Hopkins is a clown. If he actually gets in the ring with Chad again and doesn't pull another stunt early on he will get knocked out cold. Pascal knocked the old man down multiple times and had him rocked badly late in the fight. Dawson has so much more ability than Pascal and the motivation to go along with it. He will destroy Hopkins, it won't go past 5-6 rounds.
I usually don't reply to members who call names to fighters but everyone has the right to make an interpretation of what they believe are Hopkins' stunts. However, Habecki and with all due respect, Pascal caught Hopkins on the back of the head at the end of the first like he caught Dawson so many times with clubbing punches and in the 3rd round ( what you call multiple is just two knockdowns and the fight was a draw like against Mercado in South America) which still made a hard case for a draw since he was dominated from that point on. Dawson was a standing still target against whom Pacal run to with clubbing punches and away. The only time I saw Chad alive and putting some sort of combinations together was in the end stretch but like big mouth colourful Pascal says, he was having a breather to comeback at him later that round hadn't the fight been stopped due to the gash on Dawson's eye. The fight went to the scorecards and Dawson was way behind in the scores whereas Bernard was never way behind in points in 24 rounds against Pascal. You say that Chad will corner, trap Hopkins and bust him up and make him fall like an old tree... I respect that... After all, RJJ was caught in the second round by an aggressive Antonio Tarver with a one punch... I hope Bernard's back legs and fast rushing forward will produce many counters and possibly those right hands that had Dawson hurt pretty bad in his dominating performance aginst Adamek, remember? Cheers.
Well if he knocks Hopkins out, he will be the first to ever do it and I think that's wishful thinking considering the fact that Hopkins has never been knocked out and Chad Dawson has never shown that type of punching power. Chad was getting frustrated in those 2 rounds they fought because of Hopkins cutting down on his punchout put and giving him angles to set up counters. I'll say this much though, if Dawson doesn't get a big lead in the beginning of this fight or knocks him out like the poster says he will, he's in trouble and Hopkins will take him apart and that's simply due to B-Hops ring IQ and abilty to adapt.
Arcane, I dont think the Taylor fights are as bad as you are making them out to be, nor the JC fight (which I did edge for Hopkins). Those were all close, competetive fights, that plenty of people scored differently. Also, theres no telling if Dawson was going to stop Pascal or not, but the fact is he had taken control of the fight, was getting to Pascal, and on top of that Pascal was gassing and was on his way out. Its not unreasonable at all to think Dawson would have stopped him as he was really starting to put it on him. Problem is he only had a round and some change to do it. Chances are Pascal would have survived, but theres no question he was in danger.
As for the fight, I expect Dawson to have too much for Hopkins, and simply outpoint him to a UD win. I just hope it doesnt get ruined like the last one, and that its not too dirty.
I'm sorry but people hear are selling Jean Pascal short...yes I agree he does not possess the skill set of either Dawson or Hopkins...however he was and always will be a danger to both...lets be honest we can talk about wide punches, being green and not being the smartest in the ring but...Pascal only real problem is stamina he was ahead in the first 5 rounds of both those fights. In fact go and watch Pascal-Hopkins II, It was not a white wash for the first 5 rounds for Hopkins, he got rocked again in that fight. Give Pascal his respect.
Thank you for the recap of some of their fights...as if I have no knowledge of previous events. The Dawson/Pascal fight means little in terms of judging future events off of the result. We all know Dawson lacks intensity at times and gets lazy in the ring. He obviously didn't take Pascal too seriously as he didn't let his hands go in that fight until late on. Also looked poorly prepared as the bumrush tactics of the one dimensional Pascal actually seemed to have him perplexed. If you honestly think Pascal is on a similar level to a motivated Dawson you are delusional. And in the Hopkins/Pascal fight the old conman was rocked badly late in that fight and was holding on for dear life. If Pascal had any real ability he would have got him out of there but his attack (charge and swing) smothered his own work and let Hopkins survive. Your last bit about actually leaving a scenario where Hopkins catches Dawson is laughable. Sure Dawson has gone down a few times but he's always got back up and Hopkins surely doesn't have enough to even knock Chad down, let alone out. Dawson has wanted this fight forever, unfortunately for him conman Hopkins avoided him until this point as its a no lose for him now. I expect Dawson to come out fast knowing Bernard could cheat him again early and end the fight within the first half. Dawson has way to much handspeed for Hopkins spoiling tactics to work for long. Hopkins will get caught with something eventually and Dawson will flurry him to submission.
Yet Dawson lost to Pascal atsch Styles make fight yet Pascals 4 round gas early wild swinging was good enough to beat Dawson :deal
Chad Dawson's last KO was 5 years ago against a bum, and supposedly he's going to KO Hopkins in 4 rounds :rofl:rofl:rofl
Dawson loss fair and square and he was in great shape when he fought Pascal, don't give me that BS excuse that he took him lightly because when he was trying to come in the fight from the ealry rounds he loss and Pascal being tired, he was still getting timed with the right hand. As for Hopkins and Dawson, well I hope you don't bet on it because your gonna lose a lot of money if you honestly think he's gonna knock Hopkins out. You better pray Hopkins looks 47, because if he doesn't, expect him to shock everyone again, including Dawson because he's going into this fight soley depending on his youth, which stupidity if you ask me. Hopkins neutralized Joe Calzaghe's punchout put and stayed with him the whole fight and Calzaghe is a much better boxer than Chad Dawson in the center of the ring and his combinations and workrate is better.
Guy's like Pascal and Pavlik had obvious weaknesses that Hopkins exploited. That is not the case with Dawson because Hopkins is going to have to really work to win, and I don't think he can with the work-rate he has shown.
Taylor was being hyped as HBO's goldenchild that's why Hopkins wasn't going to beat him that's also the reason why he somehow got a draw against Winky Wright, he's one of the biggest frauds in the sport and I for one was delighted when reality hit home when he got KTFO by Pavlik then got outboxed by Pavlik then brutally finished by Froch and Abraham.
