Getting into double digits in his number of fights with Tarver. Nah just kidding unless he can get the big name Hopkins then he is gonna have to start looking at 168. The problem is he is like 6 foot 2 and it would be probably hard for him to lose 7 pounds and fight at a catchweight of 172 or something like that. The problem with that is i can't see why and top Supper Middles would do that when there in such a good division. I think he's in a crappy position, unless Tavaris Cloud turns into something special.
Not that I think Cloud is the second coming or anything but I thought Johnson beat him and Cloud is more powerful, faster, stronger, younger and possibly hungrier than Johnson is. That's conclusion I've come to anyway.
Yup. A great boxer in a mediocre division, and not much in the way of options. If Bhop will fight him then that's a good outcome. If any of the SMW will come up then it's a good outcome. If he can drop to SMW without suffering that's a good outcome. Without opportunities then it is hard to see how he will climb the P4P.
Two years from now, I think he will have given up on trying to get people at 168 to face him, and he'll be packing on the pounds to try making a run at heavyweight, with a stop at cruiserweight along the way.
I Dawson ranked 7 on my P4P list. The guy has been P4P talent for quite a while actually but for some reason or another fans and the media don't want to give the man his due.
As a Dawson fan he's not in the top 10 P4P yet, I think he's around #14. He beats Glen Johnson convincingly I would put him at #12.
I'll ask you this what the hell has Caballero done to deserve to be in the Ring top 10 P4P over Dawson?
I personally don't see Cloud as being much better than Travis Henry. Very similar fighters. Hopefully I'm proven wrong. Dawson's next task is to learn how to throw while someone else is throwing at him. That's his biggest downfall at the moment. Tarver worked well for him because he does the same thing, but he'll still have problems with someone like Johnson who keeps moving forward and throwing punches. He'd be served very well by learning to slip and counter. He did it some against Adamek, but I haven't seen him do much of that since then.
