I don't understand why they are talking about a fight against Ward at 168. Dawson will be drained like a mofo

    Lose-lose situation for Ward, unfortunately.

The 'drained' excuse is probably the most popular excuse used to tarnish a win, and Ward has already validated that before he's even signed the contract. I'm gutted he never took that Bute fight.

I think Dawson will be great at 168 and faster than ever so he easily outpoints Ward. Most fighters know what weight they can make and how they perform at that weight. Oscar did not use the standard method of making weight by weighing in very dry and adding lots of waterweight in the 30+ hours until fight time. Oscar was at 147 or less a week before the fight with Pacquiao. Stupid. Dawson won't do that. He will weigh in at 168 and be 180+ when he steps into the ring.

Now he doesn't, he was at 184 or 185lb on fight night against Hopkins. Andre Ward comes in around 182lb's himself.

Yeah but in his last fight he was 184 or 185lb, he approaches size different to each fight, on fight night there won't be much difference between Ward & Dawson, maybe a 4 or 5 lb advantage for Dawson.

Dawson & Scully said before the Hopkins fight he was walking around 181lb's & that was before training.

Love ward for taking this fight. Now that we know that Bute wasn't as good as he was promoted he is facing a great technical fighter.

    Will be intresting.

We will see the effects of his weight on fight night. If he really is 181 Before camp then he should have no trouble making 168. Dropping to 178 should be no problem if he does it slow and smart. The guy used to fight at MW.

    SIR BADBOT!!!

Let it be known that I was the one who proved to the forums Dawson rehydrates to 190+ by finding footage!!!!

Also, I should note that a lot of the times when the boxers weigh-in for HBO on fight night, they are often fully clothed, and in shoes, and the scale is probably not calibrated with exaction like the official weigh-in scales are . . Not that it makes that much of a difference, but it could have been more like 187ish. . .
