Dawson regressed in that fight. I mean you watch his past fights he was so offensively sharp yet against Johnson he looked sloppy. And Dawson always had defensive problems, it improved a lot when he was with Mayweather Sr., but his defensive problems resurfaced again against Johnson. A lot of his problems also had to do with the fact that he was inexperienced and it was the first time he actually fought someone that fought back. Out of all those problems Dawson still managed to pull out a close fight and I thought he won, although I wouldn't have been mad if it was a draw. But you need to watch his past fights against Harding and Adamek to see this guy has tremendous talent and skill. And if he rematches Johnson again he will only beat him convincingly next time because Dawson can only get better.

No he won the fight. All three judges scored it for him. The commentary team on the link i provided scored it for him. And the most credible posters who have put their score cards up so far have all had it 7-5 for Dawson.

Your criteria for scoring fights is off period.

I suggest you watch the fight, with your eyes open. As opposed to playing with your shaft for 12 rounds and making a wild claim after the fight.

I find it amusing how people who claim that Johnson won talk about Johnson applying pressure and hurting Dawson. This is not how boxing is scored. There is no way in the world Dawson won any less than 7 rounds.

Alexeev is a cruiserweight, and a pretty big one at that.

    115-113 for Dawson here.

Could have been a draw, that one.

I think this fight, along with the championship rounds of the Adamek fight, have made Chad into the fighter he is today...ie, the best at 175 lbs.

Wait and see how he looks vs Diaconu. :good

I agree, Dawson would box Kessler's ears off. He is too slick and a better fighter overall on both the outside and the inside.

I've been saying this on here since before he beat Eric Harding.

Dawson gets hit too damn much to beat Kessler.

    1. Slick evasionary lateral movement by Dawson.
    2. Dawson jab showing such skill that people wax poetically about his future P4P #1 superstardom.
    3. Dawson zones out, gets busted by a right hand, and freezes for 15 seconds.

Repeat. Against Kessler, he won't last to get the decision.

Yes, because Kessler's such a decisive finisher.

It took him 12 rounds to finish Sarwhoson, and he never came close to stopping Mundine, who he tagged flush plenty of times.

Exactly. 8 rounds to finish Siaca as well, and 11 or something vs the very average Thysse. Nothing special there in his finishing ability.
