Its just a rumor that i just heard on In This Corner with Russ Anber. Apparently Showtime's offer to Dawson for him to fight Tarver was rediculously low, and now Dawson's team has decided that they will focus on their mandatory challenger rather than be stripped of the title.

There's probably no confidence on the part of Dawson's team that tarver would take the fight anyway. Antonio didn't seem to be in a rush to fight Dawson before.

But.... I thought Dawson was afraid of Diaconu.

I thought he was looking at Tarver as a way to avoid Diaconu.

    This info is obviously wrong.

Diaconu vs. Dawson is a more interesting fight than Dawson vs. Tarver, so this is good news.

I'd like to see Calzaghe vs. Tarver though.

After all the time, money and effort SHowtime put into building up Dawson-Tarver its hard to believe they would low-ball him so badly. . . wonder what the offer was?

Maybe it was a two-fight deal, and Glen Johnson was part B.

Tarver is broke, he aint going no where. He will probably face Johnson for a 3rd fight now. And if he wins he will be there for Dawson, if both seriously want the fight.

The offer might have been reasonable but I imagine Diancou was offering more and Chad gets to keep his belt.

Lets face it Chad wins both fights, so might aswell take the good money first.

Good, because I made the thread that the WBC ordered Chad and Adrian

After Diaconu's last fight I'd be lining up to fight him too. Dawson will make this fight look easy as long as he doesn't get sloppy and get caught.

    Something like 118-110.
