Diaconu starched Hoye in round 3, he didn't just send him down. Calzaghe was KD'd and jumped back up to finish his opponent, where as Hoye was finished off easily, plus was stopped on his feet by feather fisted Clinton Woods.

There is little evidence for Hoye having a glass jaw. Getting KTFO by Diaconu hardly proves anything about one's chin. Hoye took some bombs from an older Richard Hall and was never hurt, his chin was actually quite decent. :good

"A guy like Thysse has a rock solid chin"? He got stopped more than once and his chin is rock solid? And Diaconu knocked him down? So what? Getting knocked down has nothing to do with chins. Being hurt and the rate at which you recover does.

And being a 24-0 olympian with a big punch (15 KO's ) is nothing impressive. Check boxrec and you'll find a ton of them that will never amount to anything at the top level.

I don't know what your defintion of spinning something is, but you seem to be trying really hard to look for every excuse you could find for this huge puncher who has such a low KO%.

Funnily enough, Diaconu didn't KTFO Hoye because the latter had a glass chin, but because he managed to repeatedly hit him - this non-boxer outboxed him badly. He would have KTFO someone with an iron chin eventually, at the rate that he was landing punches.

Thysse has an iron chin. If you don't know what you're talking about it's always better to shot the **** up.

But isn't this true for any fighter facing a power puncher? You seem to acknowledge that Diaconu would be the severe underdog here, but yet there still seems to be a bit of hype to your posts. I'm not sure what you truly are trying to articulate.

I don't dispute AD's power. The guy obviously is a hitter. My question is why some lesser lights are taking him the distance, and why we think Dawson won't have an easier time doing the same. If those guys can nullify Diaconu's power, shouldn't an elite fighter like Dawson be able to do the same, and with much greater powers of retaliation?

I'd like to see the fight, and Chad's tendency to coast may get him KOd somwhere in here, but I don't see why there'd be a particular push for this bout. I'd much rather see him fight Tarver or Johnson, or maybe one of the other beltholders.

Tarver is 38 and overrated. Dawson needs to fight fighters who have a pulse, not just legendary waxworks. Tarver would be a "name" on Dawson's resume. But a win against Diaconu means more right now. Diaconu is rather good NOW. Whether he was good before doesn't much matter. He is improving fast, if you will. And he can hit, with some power, NOW. This fight doesn't neet hyped. It sells itself. Diaconu makes Top 10 at his weight. He will be a good challenger and will show us a different aspect of Dawson's game.

I agree that Tarver is severely faded, but Dawson needs that scalp for credibility purposes to set up bigger fights, and Antonio even today has a puncher's chance.

If Diaconu is as good as you say, why doesn't *he* fight someone with a pulse? If it's such a great fight, why rush it? Let AD win a belt and Dawson remove Tarver or Johnson from contention permanently, and there'd be more money in the fight later.

I'd certainly be happy to see the fight now, but again, why the big push? This is not a big fight for casual fans, because even Dawson himself has no real name (hence the reason he needs Tarver).

Whom should Diaconu fight to make a name for himself?

I don't think Dawson has a glass jaw at all. When he was knocked down by Adamek he got his legs back.
