I don't think anyone is saying Dawson has a china chin. Some are saying that Dawson's chin might be slightly less than solid. But that might be enough against a puncher like AD...

Well for one thing Diaconu is in his prime, unlike say a Tarver, although I too would like to see Antonio humiliated at the hands of Bad Chad.

Yes, every fighter facing a power puncher is faced with the same dilemma. However, Dawson's last opponent had a good punch as well, yet he was quite less polished in the technical department than Diaconu; the lack of an amateur pedigree was quite obvious. Needless to say, power punchers vary in their abilities at cutting off the ring, at their body work, and at their ability to penetrate a good defence.

Diaconu seems to be fairly solid at all of these facets, though not exceptional at anything other than the grand finish. Still, he is a solid opponent for Dawson and is indeed his mandatory challenger, so we should applaud both men if the fight does come off, imo.

    ...if not Dawson...

you guys still haven't answered. Should he fight A "Name"? Isn't it better to fight one of the best guys in boxing? Who cares what Joe Public thinks about Diaconu/Dawson. It's what true fans think that really matters. Diaconu couldn't possibly hope for a better fight. I would argue Dawson wouldn't do that badly either. Maybe I am wrong, but please don't mention Tarver...

Diaconu's only other option would be to pursue another belt.

The WBA is tied up for now (Drews will face Ulrich or the Briggs-Garay winner), so is the IBF (Johnson and Gonzo are the top two). WBO champ Erdei hasn't fought a good opponent in a long time. Chad is probably the best of the beltholders, but also the most accessible one at the moment.

As to the other big "names", such as Tarver and RJJ, they simply don't want any, even from guys who hold a title and are fairly established. Tarver wouldn't fight Adamek who had notched a few defences, he won't even look at a dangerous opponent like Diaconu who brings no belt to the table.

The problem with all those Diaconu haters is that they dont know anything about him. Hoye is tall and a jab leading boxer too (not as skilled as Dawson but still a decent fighter). If Chad as a "great boxer" will not pack some power to hurt Diaconu in long range combos he will lose. U can run for 12 rounds and still get a UD but very unlikely in Montreal. When the doctor will enter the ring to attend Chad ...u haters will hate Adrian even more :deal

    Cheers

If you do not think that Diaconu diaconu's 62% ko rate is good then i guess you have been watching ufc too much. i dont care what boxer it is, you are going to knock everyone down everytime. Diaconu is UNDEFEATED as well is dawson. You cannot take that away from him. ok it looks like the only thing that can settle this argument is to have to wait until the fight happens. This fight will be a good one. If Dawson wins, he will win by points. If Diaconu wins, Chin Dwason will need attention from the referee. I am not gonna sit here and say Diaconu is a more skilled boxer thn Chin cuz he is not but if you are trying to say that there is not a fair chance that Diaconu will win by KTFO then someone needs to go back and watch a few highlights.

LMAO at Chin Dawson. Pernell Whitaker used to get knocked down without being hurt aswell, is he also 'chinny'?

We'll see what happens with the fight but I think that when Dawson jumps ahead with his jab he presents his chin a little too much. He did it with Adamek but Adamek wasn't able to adjust.

Diaconu is very precise with his straight right so I think he'll stop Dawson.:rasta

Anyone going to record this fight on DVD? If so, I would like to buy a copy for a fair price.
I'll be in AC to see Taylor vs Pavlik & my friend will be recording the fight in AC, so I have to make some arrangements to be able to watch the Dawson Diaconu battle at a later date.
