both fighters suffered knockout losses to Stevenson/Kovalev and chose to move up to Cruiserweight only to lose decisions to Bellew/Karpency

Seems like a make it or break it fight for both guys although Id heavily suggest the winner moves down in weight afterwords to challenge Braehmer / Beterbiev / Pascal.

So at this current stage in their careers who wins? Im picking Cleverly by UD/Late stoppage seeing how far Dawson has fallen losing a decision to a fighter Clevery used as a punching bag a few years ago

Honestly I think Cleverly would have been a handfull for him back at 175. if they had fought last year id have trouble picking a winner as it could have gone either way in a unification for the WBO/WBC

Now though both fighters have lost the edge Mentally and cant seem to perform as well as they have done in the past . . . . but Dawsons declined far more than Cleverly in losing to Karpency of all people. Cleverly whilst outgunned against Bellew made it a close fight in the early rounds but wasnt able to keep up his usual pace.

Cleverly at LHW was underrated and was a good fighter but since the Kovalev fight he doesn't seem the same mentally. Cleverly at cruiserweight looks a shell of his former self, but Dawson has declined massively too, so it's hard to say.

Americans can never admit a british fighter could beat one of theirs

    Cleverly dominates Karpency
Dawson loses a decision to Karpency

Dawson is too much for Nathan

Im Welsh and I cant ****ing stand Cleverly, hes got all the tools to be a great champion but hes too much of a knob to actually use them and goes toe to toe needlessly . . . . look what acting like a hardman gets you

that being said I still think prime v prime that Cleverlys work rate would trouble Dawson, you saw in the Pascal fight how he wasnt able to cope with the pressure hence why he was able to beat Bhop due to him not throwing much back and allowing him to dictate the fight. when the shoe is on the other foot he cant handle it and tends to freeze up quite a lot

Prime for Prime Cleverly on a very close points decision
Now Dawson would be lucky to go 12

Dawson may as well retire, he will never get back to the level he achieved before.
