Talk on twitter this fight could happen next yr How do people see this going , if it happens ? Personally cant see bomber winning it More than likely dawson will vacate if he has too fight bellew , same thing devon will do
Dawson wins this easily. I like Bellew alot and he comes across as a top bloke in interviews, but he's not on Chad's level and it's too big of a jump up in class. Tony would be better off going for guys like Cloud, Mack and Green. I'd give him a good chance against those guys and it'd help bridge the gap between fighting dross like Miranda and a P4P ranked guy in Chad Dawson.
Chad Dawson is such an enigma. People fawn over him and his ability but Adamek aside, he's beaten mainly past prime opponents in Hopkins, Johnson and Tarver. Pascal is hardly a top tier fighter and he completely disarmed him and I could see someone like Cloud, even with all his flaws, being able to do the same. Someone as technically sound as Bellew will always cause him issues IMO and can definitely beat him. Whether Tony is ready by next year I doubt because he is still firmly in the prospect category but it wouldn't surprise me if he did win if they fought in the next couple of years
Honestly..? I think Tony Bellew with beat Chad Dawson. Chad Dawson for me has regressed as a fighter, i think Bernard Hopkins would also beat him in a rematch. I think he actually looked shot in his second fight with Bernard Hopkins, and Hopkins was the sharper of the two fighters also..? Bernard Hopkins in-between rounds was not even breathing hard, i am convinced he gave that fight away due to his tendency to want to be two précised and picking his his shots and workrate. I have tried to support and get behind Chad Dawson, but he just seems slightly ******ed. With the moves he take regarding his career, his decision to fight Andre Ward at 168 was one of the most ******ed moves made by a champion boxer in recent years.
At this stage you'd favour Dawson, he's got more experience at the top level.... plus I think Bellew is a bit too orthodox to trouble Dawson. Maybe I'm reading a bit much into Pascal just leaping in wildly with allsorts and assuming that that's the blueprint?
On paper you have to go with Dawson, records suggest he is a level or two above Bellew. However one thing is pretty much certain, and that is Bellew will come to fight and as long as it lasts it could be a decent scrap. Also who knows what 'damage' the loss to Ward may have been done to Dawson, he was beaten soundly by a 'smaller' man and you just never know........ I for one would like to see the fight, I don't think we have seen the best of Bellew yet and this match-up would give us a much better idea of what he can actually do. Also its always good to have one of our boxers fighting for a title, particularly against the world number one in the division.
http://www.matchroomboxing.com/news/bellew_eyes_world_title_fight_against.htm I do believe that Dawson is the best in the division and aside from him I feel everyone is on a level playing field. Bernard Hopkins, in terms of experience, is up there with Dawson but as an actual fighter I believe Dawson is proven to be the best light heavyweight out there. But I would be happy to fight him. There is now a blueprint to beat Chad Dawson after what Andre Ward did to him, so I would be happy to go in there and carry out what Ward did to him.
Bellew's a cracking fighter who's improving but I think a fight with Dawson in the 6 - 12 months would be a step too far. I'd fancy him to beat Shumenov though or Cleverly in a rematch. Cloud I'm not sure about. Let's see how he does in this next fight against this Argentine.
I don't think Dawson would like the pressure Bellew would put on him. He's a mentally weak fighter and if the fight happened over here, which it could as Dawson isn't a draw, that'd be a massive advantage for Bellew. I could see it going both ways but if I was Hearn, I wouldn't have too many problems putting Bellew in there with Dawson. It's not the Dawson of a few years ago, he's since had financial problems, he's fallen out with family, he's not been focused in training, he's switched trainers and he's recently been stopped and called a coward by many people in boxing. He's still a formidable fighter but these things will get to Dawson more than your average world champion because he lacks that mental strength. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bellew pulled it off. He's improving as a boxer and has quite a few edges over Dawson. Either way, it's a great fight and I hope we get to see it.
